I have a old Hardinge cobra with fanuc 21-t controller I'm going to retrofit it with centroid

I need to do this to my fanuc mill 21-M controller, its so expensive for parts and memory if you can even get stuff anymore!!

@@G2Performance This is where Centroid shines. Centroid has a dealer/technician network that can do it if you can't

Do a video sharing toolchanger
@martyscncgarage52753 жыл бұрын
Sharing or showing a tool changer. The issue with tool changers is they can be and usually are a little different. My current Atrump Maximill E216 has a carousel tool changer and it runs under Centroid. I can't to do any videos on it because it has a new control and yet to be released.

@@seimela suggest you send pictures of your .machine, model numbers of your fanuc motors and details on your turret to sales AT Centroidcnc DOT com You could also post that information on the Centroid CNC user support forums: centroidcncforum.com/viewforum.php?f=64

What is the advantage of the AC/DC drives
@MartyEscarcega3 жыл бұрын
Centroid AC/DC drives will do just that, control AC or DC servo motors

Nice encoder retrofit.... I think you could also do it via your DMM DYN4 servo amps shown at the beginning of your video.... DMM also sells encoders that fits their amplifiers.

Being that qualified person I want to let you know that the DVM is not the correct tool for checking motor isolation. If your DVM shows any resistance to ground I would be surprised. A Meg meter is required. They are sold in different configurations however to get the best reading it should output 1,000 volts. I have found resistive shorts on bad motors where others have found no issue with a 500v meter. I admire your work sir so I am not bashing but mearling informing you of what is needed to check properly. Also FYI is is actually best to have the motor power leads hooked up to the motors and removed from the servo amps. Test the cables while connected to the motor. This will test both at the same time. If there is an issue then isolate each and check each motor and motor wires. I have found that the majority of issues are actually the motor power wires themselves and not the motors.

No argument. However most people do not own an expensive megger. Centroid allows the use of the ohm meter.

There are some affordable ones like: www.grainger.com/mobile/product/SUPCO-LED-Line-Powered-Megohmmeter-3T105 It has color leds to check if the isolation is good or bad... I use it all the time to check my motors / solenoids / alternators.... etc. It’s an amazing tool.

Never heard of that motor. Would need to see it's manual.
