Seating is less on the Centurion because of ballast weight, also the Centurion fuel efficiency is the best in class.

I picked up a leftover stock, new 2022 centurion ri245 which happened to be in my favorite colours. A USED 2022 g23 would have cost 60-70k CAD more than the one I got new. I agree that nautique seems to have the edge on interior storage layout, fit and finish. But, I demoed the ri245 and loved it. I personally think the hull design is more visually appealing on the ri245, that and the sheer size of it makes it a winner for me considering how much less expensive it is. One other thing I would mention is that correct craft seems to be marketing the Centurion hull as the best surf wave. Centurion is also supposed to ride smoother in rough water.

I’ve spent time on both and ridden both waves. There is no comparison when it comes to surf waves. The centurion is the clear winner. I have a 23’ moomba Mojo both are much better waves than mine but the centurion wave was incredible! The G23 wins for luxurious interior, and storage, but Id give it to the centurion for wave, looks, ride and fuel economy.

@matthale7848 thank you for sharing your opinion. What is your favorite trick to do on a surf board?

Thing to note: Centurion "Bow Ballast Tank" is sub floor ballast also. So that is an Extra 400lbs sub floor for the Ri230 and 450 for the Ri245.

Great video Tim! You did a great job at analyzing both Centurion and Nautique in a fair way. I agree, if you are looking for the best fit and finish, Nautique. Like you said, the centurion has good fit and finish, but the G is just more fine tuned! In terms of displacement, the Centurion has more than any other model. And the large amounts of ballast contribute to the lower people rating. The difference from centurion to other brands is the way they get their max weight accessed. Centurion includes all available ballast from the factory, therefore it takes it all into consideration. Some other brands offer plug and play kits that can be installed from a dealer, however, that weight was not included in the max weight capacity, making the people capacity seem higher. Just kinda an interesting insight, but like you said, who’s gonna be taking 14+ people on their boat 😅 Also, the way Nautique’s ballast is subfloor is definitely nice! I can confirm that the bags in the centurion take a lot of storage away. And the rear transom bag fills up the back board locker. The way nautique shapes their wave is different as compared to Centurion. Both way is good, but just different. The centurion will be slightly more weight sensitive, but have more push at the back of the wave. The biggest thing I noticed when riding a G is how steep the wave is! It’s a beast, and the transition is a little more vertical. Both make good waves, and the Nautique may be easier to set up at first, but the centurion is more configurable. Overall, both excellent boats! Best way to know is just go demo them, and pick your priorities! Keep up the new series! Merry Christmas 🎄

Hi WM - Love your videos and how you try to quantify the differences to eliminate bias. I have previously owned a Malibu 23LSV and surfed behind several Nautique G 23’s (one newer one with the larger plates is one I demoed). I currently own a 2023 Ri245 which I custom ordered (my second one). Before I ordered that boat, I demoed everything I was interested in. I can afford whichever wake boat I want so I really tried to pick the best surf boat without any prior biases (although I was biased somewhat against the Malibu because the one I owned was so cheaply constructed compared to the Centurion, Supra and Nautique). From my POV, the demos were not close- the Centurion Ri245 was the best surf boat period. I’m not a wakeboard guy but there’s no doubt the Nautique is the better wakeboard boat. The hull design of the Centurion is more conducive to producing large displacement to one side or the other but it’s harder to balance out the wakes without the adjustable tracking fin option. The price difference between my 2023 loaded custom spec Ri245 and a comparable 2023 G23 was over $80,000 - priced by me with dealers before I ordered. Same ZZ6. Same dealer added thruster etc etc. So for me the decision was easy. There’s no amount of intangibles worth $80,000 in my book. Unfortunately, everything I see indicates that the parent company is going to keep adding more stuff to the Centurion Ri line (new adjustable tower, embossed seats etc) to close the price gap to Nautique making even harder for most normal people to buy the best surf boat there is. PS - All these boats are pretty awesome. I just wish that the trend to add more luxury / more price would slow down. Seriously- what’s wrong with a manual board rack and an ice chest. Do I really need a padded drawer for my Rolex?

All I can say is I had a 2023 axis T235 and the internet had me believing centurion was the best surf boat on the market. I went and test drove both a ri265 and ri245. The sales manager set it up with intention of wanting to sell that boat. My 100% honest experience… the wave on the ri265 was complete garbage. No push , small pocket 3 of us tried it , none of us were impressed. He then took out the ri245. This boat was still not impressive small pocket, not a lot of push. I will say the wave was like riding a skate board ramp in that the top was hard as many others had said. I’m a beginner so how that translates into riding for me is a none issue. Both boats had extremely load engine noise compared to my boat. The fit and finish looked good but the ri265 made a lot of noise that would have been concerning for a boat with a couple hrs on it. I ended up trading my 2023 axis t235 for a 2024 Malibu 25 lsv. World class wave on the Malibu. I can be in the pocket 40’ out before I fall out of the wave , I can surf 25+ feet out comfortably. If I was a beginner or first time boat buyer I would buy an axis over any entry level boat and a Malibu over any other. There is a reason Natique has to pay Malibu for patent on their surf system and Malibu/axis is best selling and most award winning surf boats on the market. Thats no sales pitch just a none bullshit opinion for people watching the same bs. I did. One other thing , the v hull on the centurion did nothing to make the wave better in rough water , it did seem to ride thru it better , but it made the boat list easily if you moved a person or two from one place to another. Do your research. Test them yourself

I just backed out of a Centurion purchase, for a left over 23 g23 because its the comfort of a Nautique, I just couldn't get over how little attention was paid to the operator of the boat in a Centurion,I am 6'2" and the windshield frame was perfectly level in my line of sight, and the steering wheel is way too low. So you're head is over the windshield to see where you are going ( what windshield?!?) and your hunched over trying to steer with you legs against the steering wheel, and there is no arm rest. Then the seat has to be turned sideways to sit sideways. The wave is great but I just couldnt go from a G23 to Centurion. no matter the model. I will say the RI might have a bit more features but the FI has better layout. G wins

I appreciate the time you took to make this video, but it simply is not helpful. You compared specs from a website. Anyone shopping for a wakeboat has already done this work themselves (at least I hope so). You admitted you have never surfed behind a Centurion 🤦♂️. Your opinion is therefore completely worthless. Why did you even bother making this video???

He knows his opinion isn’t gonna change anyones mind. He is showing and explaining stats to you. Plus, do you know how hard it is to get 3 brand new boats next to each other for a video? No dealer is just gonna do that.
