oh geeze..very sorry to hear that.. The main point of the video however is that grappling dummies are very important for training. But also know that you do not have to get my "specific" dummy. If you can find it at your local sports/fighting store or trusted website, it can be just as good! :) hope that helps! -Jason

Thank you Shihan Leung for this video...i quit Judo because after 5 years I felt disrespected by my. Judo Sensei (different from my karate sensei)...since then i haven't trained Judo and I have just been focusing on karate. This video is definetely motivating and I will pull out my dummy to practice my throws...from a personal testimony I actually got better at Judo when training with the dummy by myself than compared to going to class simply because my reps were unlimited than compared to a real person...kazushi can be figured out easily...its the Tsukuri and the Kake on your way to executing the throw that matters most...i took a hiatus for 2 years went back to Judo class and it was like I never left...once again thanks for this video and as a promise to myself I will pull out my dummy and start with osoto, o-goshi, and tao toshi, etc. Tomorrow. Oss,

Thanks for the video. I thought about getting a grappling dummy but I wasn’t sure. I originally was going to do Judo but I get worried about injuries while training(I take martial arts to avoid getting injured 🤣z; I’ve been hanging with Dimitri from Cobra Kai🤣). I have a reflex dumny(everlast everflex) for boxing and savate and that is the best boxing/savate partner I have next to a sparring partner.

Awesome content Jason! Which dummy is the best to train single leg takedowns? Also have you tried trying throws with the BOB VERSYS? Thanks!
@SENSEIJASON3 жыл бұрын
Honestly this is the only dummy to attempt single legs, but perhaps the bob versys may be good choice as well, as it always stands. But cannot fully take that to the ground.

Hey brother, happy new year. Believe it gets easier just gotta be consistent and train smart. I walk around 140-145lbs, and using this for the first time was overwhelming to the point I thought about returning. But I kept with it and it got easier as I got stronger and learned best how to maneuver it. One tip is when you are carrying it to your training area I put the arms over my shoulders behind my back, like I am giving it a piggy back. Best way to manually transport it. Also the throw you can work on is just the basic hip throw “ogoshi”, because this is a pre-requisite move for almost 70% of judo techniques. Try that out, and train smart. I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it.

Hey bro I was thinking of getting a 140 lb. I can always take some stuff out to loosen the weight. But the reason is really the height I’m 6’1 ft and the dummy 5’10 & is the one close to my height I weight 170lb as well do you think 140lb will be too much or should I get 110lb 5’8 dummy?
@SENSEIJASON2 жыл бұрын
I would go lighter, 140lb is terribly heavy because it is pure dead weight. It is totally different than sparring against real 140 lb human. The human will support most of their weight so they feel lighter than 140lb. But for the dummy you will feel every pound of it. But it really depends on you and how strong you are. Even if the dummy is shorter, this will reinforce good habits as you have to drop yourself to lower your center of gravity, which is a good habit for judo and grappling.

Would you recommend a grappling dummy to people new to martial arts trying to get a better grip on techniques before they train at a gym?
@SENSEIJASON3 жыл бұрын
Yes most definitely, but I would recommend the lightest weighing dummy, because of the fact that your muscles would probably not be accustomed to the unique and sometimes difficult positions when it comes to grappling. Again, it can be used for pure striking, pure grappling, or MMA.

Hi :-) I live on the 3rd floor, laminate flooring. Will it make a lot of noise and do you need mats for a 125 pound dummy?
@SENSEIJASON2 жыл бұрын
Yes it will make a lot of noise, I don’t recommend getting the 125 lb dummy if you will be throwing it a lot. If you use it for ground and pound that shouldn’t be as noisy. But it is also kind of dangerous to slam a 125lb object on the third floor. I suggest doing it outside if you have the space or the first floor.
@alcottdevalte74402 жыл бұрын
@@SENSEIJASON Thanks for a quick reply :-) I guess I won't use it for body slams and throwns then. And if I also may ask; how many submissions overall can you do on this dummy since it isn't very flexible? Any difficulties attempting d'arce choke, guillotine choke, triangle choke, leg/ankle locks, kimura, americana, anaconda choke and during back and hip control while it's in a standing and ground position? And are there any specific submissions you want to do, but it doesn't allow it?
@SENSEIJASON2 жыл бұрын
The only feasible submissions you really can do on this are rear naked choke, arm bar, and kimura.
