He did do solos. The music in itself was always only Michael Amott, that's not a new thing for AE. AE was always Michaels baby. Don't overexeggerate the meaning of Jeff not being involved. He had the same influence as any other AE lead guitarist. It's the same with Dave Mustaine and Megadeth, or Alexi Laiho and COB and so many other bands.

Great interview. I learned a lot about AE that I didn't know. After 25y of experience, I wouldn't dare presume to know how to write better music, like some in the comment section. They have their way. Michael isn't holding Jeff at gunpoint. I'm sure they listen but have to be honest about their opinions.

People in the comments saying that Arch Enemy would cease to be a Melodic Death Metal band if they started adding clean vox to their sound are being absurd. That's a fucking ridiculous logic because clean vox can be found in varying degrees throughout the discographies of bands like Amorphis, Dark Tranquility, In Flames, Soilwork, Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum, Sonic Syndicate, Scar Symmetry, Amaranthe and Deadlock.

Uhm, about 1:30 : ok, many metalheads may not like grunge, that sounds possible, but, if you talk in particular about both grunge and metal as they were at the origins, well, I think that a lot of metalheads will agree they go side by side. And, in these days, grunge metal is a reality (genuine metal, like for example Mark Tremonti). So... yes, everyone can listen to what he/she likes, ok, but in particular there's nothing to be worried about listening both to metal and grunge.

I prophesy that this coming album will be boring af. "The world is yours" has already been terribly one-dimensional and monotonous. And the excerpts in the background here don't sound much better. Generic boring blergh, not boding well for the album's quality... But muybe I will be proven wrong. War Eternal was good, though. BTW: Alissa is sooo hot. (But, nah, not really in this video here. She looks as boring as the album snippets sound so far.)

Okay, I stand corrected. I actually like the new album. Whether it is better or worse than War Eternal, I can't tell yet. Alissa has worked on her bootiful growling voice, and I like some of the new "orchestral" kind of upgraded instrumentation here and there. _Dreams of Retribution_ is my favourite from the new album so far. Rly good. Still can't hold a candle to old Arch Enemy classics, though. But how realistic would that be anyways?
