Eloy is by far one of the most awe-inspiring drummers today! This goes way beyond just trying to guess what the actual parts of the song would be. He's able to channel the same creative energy Mastodon pulled the song from and capture the spirit of the song which is SO much harder to get right. You need to feel and tap into the mindset and what Mastodon feel like writing and playing the song and sort of retroactively get in the room with them doing it and that makes Eloy an artist's artist through and through.

This may be the best one yet...jaw dropping. Having Brann do a reaction to it was priceless too!
@randallgeary65364 ай бұрын
That final take was FUROCIOUS! I wasnt expecting him to not only nail it, but play it so energetically. Brann Dailor is such an idiosyncratic drummer. His fills and beats feel like his own personal muscle memory and very specific influences. Every time I listen to him, it reminds me of Mitch Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix's drummer - busy drums and fills on almost every measure lol. But gives each song such energy. This video was sick!

Brann is one of my favorite drummers. Really unique style. Fills and tones are so obviously him. Eloy nailed the hell out of this.

Mastodon is one of my all time favorite bands and seeing Eloy tackle this was a treat. Brann has mentioned in interviews that when he started drumming, he emulated the guitar parts rather than the standard rhythm parts. It definitely translates into a very unique, one of kind style. Even not being based around traditional drumming style, Eloy still adapted (because of course he did) and nailed it. Getting to see Brann's reaction to it was awesome too.
@3lectronaut74 ай бұрын
Word. There are many drummers that are "guitarists drummers". They don't always necessarily count beats and bars, but rather follow the rhythm guitar to know where they're at in the song. Interesting that it works so well .

Its actually kind of like how Keith Moon played, the difference is that Brann is far more technically adept and precise than Moonie ever was.
