I do personally prefer this sound to the sound they have now with Alissa. Overall it was heavier, from Angela's vocals to the instrumentation. But I am also looking forward to the new album Will To Power, as they are definitely trying to up the ante again as far as heaviness goes. It won't be as heavy as this. A commentor said it right when he said that Alissa has more of a metalcore aspect to her vocals. Slightly Tim Lambesis-esque (please, no comments on him here; just vocal comparison). Angela is rip-your-throat-out and feed-on-your-flesh level of aggression without falling into the standard death or core sound, akin to a pig snorting (*cough* *cough* Cannibal Corpse *cough* *cough*) or a homeless guy puking. This era of the band reminds me of Dark Tranquillity, and that is a hell of a compliment. Most bands seem to only pull off one or maybe two great albums. They did that with Angela, so I prefer to enjoy the old and look forward to what they do now. But I did *just* get into them so I don't have any baggage of being a longtime fan or whatnot.
