I used the old version of Wipe-New when it was still in a little bottle. It worked great and lasted as long as I had the truck. I used it on an old Ford Escape with VERY faded charcoal plastic bumpers. I like the little bit if shine it leaves behind.
@themikeroberts2 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's what I used and it has lasted 7 years on most of my trim. The shiny trim by my windows didn't last that long but most of the trim was not the shiny plastic and has lasted 7 years. The owners of Cerakote, NIC Industries, convinced a jury that they supplied Wipe-New with their original formula until they ended that agreement in 2017 and then Wipe-New reverse engineered a copy. So maybe Cerakote is the old version you and I both had good results with.

EXACTLY! This is a big problem especially with the WipeNew which is NOT a coating at all. You have to apply these things EXACTLY as the instructed and don't make assumptions and do anything else. I've been using WipeNew for a few years and it works the best and lasts longest when you follow the instructions to the letter including NOT exposing it to direct sunlight for the period of time it mentions in the instructions. I think Josh here means well but he's not aware of how he completely sabotaged his own test. That's why you have to really pat attention to all these KZbin comparison videos. Most people doing these tests don't know how to do a truly objective scientific comparison and most viewers are oblivious to what they're doing wrong and why the test results are meaningless.

@imjoshv3 жыл бұрын
Any cleaner you recommend?
@AnthonyJohnGargiulo3 жыл бұрын
@@imjoshv Try mother's back to black trim Cleaner, not restorer. Comes with a black bristle brush. It's a clear gel like substance, you clean the trim with. Gets rid of those pesky water drip spots and stains and anything else that stains the trim. Brings life back to the trim. You can use a non marring scrub pad instead of the brush if you want to, I find the gel falls off the brush and can make a mess or apply the gel with the scrub pad and agitate the gel on the trim with the brush. Wipe clean with microfiber, then apply any trim restorer you prefer. I did this concept recently on my Honda cr-v and then sold the SUV to carvana. It came out like brand new. I used wipe nu as my trim restorer. Hope you find this informative. Keep up the good videos.

After reading comments I had great expectations of at least a 90% restoration on our 2005 headlight. I carefully followed the video's procedures. Within a few minutes the cloudiness resurfaced. You can barely see the components under the headlight covers. It actually accentuated all the tiny cracks. Under daylight the surface is all fracked making the headlights even worse before using the product! I had applied the step 3 coating in the same speed and manner as the video instructed yet there are noticeable streaks. Do you recommend buying another kit and start over?
@anguslean40582 жыл бұрын
You need to sand the light down completely Finish sanding with 800 grit Then when finished sanding Use the 800 grit and do horizontal strokes on the whole headlight But a can of 2k clear coat ( glamour ) And spray it with that Takes 24 hrs to set up Don’t wash the headlight for a month You want it to gas out Any drips or orange peel can be sanded out later This method lasts the longest ( years ) and looks the best.

And all of the vehicles trim looks amazing. The exterior trim has very little fade or UV damage, and has a very nice semi-gloss finish. The interior trim looks as good as new. My vehicle is not garage kept and considering these hot Georgia summers and sun, that is amazing. I definitely recommend t o anyone who asks me how I keep my trim looking so good. It lasts about 18 -24 months on exterior trim and top of interior dashboard; and for 3 - 4 years on on rest of interior trim. I won't even try anything else.

Another good product comparison. I like the side by side comparisons instead of a one product demo. Since your bringing the black back, How about a comparison on tire dressing products?
@mrfester424 ай бұрын
Hey Josh, The Cerakote instructions do NOT say to take a towel and wipe off the excess. You're making assumptions about how it works by doing that and probably reducing its effectiveness over time. It's a ceramic coating which should be obvious by its name, Cerakote. It works by putting a protective ceramic layer over the plastic against UV rays and and harsh cleaning agents Regarding WipeNew, you say @ 11:22 that its a coating which is another assumption. I've used it many times and I think you're mistaken. I don't think it's a coating at all! I think it works completely differently then the Cerakote. I think it's a chemical agent that reacts chemically with the plastic so after applying it you should just leave it alone and NOT wipe off any excess at all. I think that by wiping it when it doesn't instruct you to do that reduces the amount of chemical on the surface so it wont go as deeply into the surface of the degraded plastic as it could. I think that wiping it after application will reduce its longevity. Again, WipeNew is NOT a surface coating. You can tell it's not a surface coating by how fast those wipes evaporate. It's very volatile. I don't think any of the WipeNew remains on the treated surface at all after it has completely dried. It reacts with the plastic then evaporates with no trace! That's why you should follow the directions exactly and to the letter and DON'T make any assumptions. If it doesn't instruct you to wipe off any excess then don't do it!
