This brings back memories. We emigrated from England to Australia in 1960 and my dad got a job at R&L. He would bring home handfuls of plastic toys every day. My favourite was 'Neddy the walking Horse". You can see him (the orange horse in the left tray) and some of his barnyard pals at 2:35. we would have about 20 of them lined up and have races to the end of the kitchen table.

The articulated toys were some of the best designs (for cereal toys) I can remember! Loved the 'snake in a log'. The whole ritual of getting them was just a joy. Your experience with them sounds wonderful. Getting just the right surface angle so the horses 'walked' smoothly was tricky.

Wonderful story, bringing back VERY evocative memories. Still have my Cranky Critter in light purple. My first memories were of flicker rings with cowboys on them. Do you remember the stencils that were in two pieces, enabling different animals to appear? One of my favorite 'nodding' toys was the 'snake in a log' .And for some reason I just LOVED the totem toys. They seemed so smooth, tactile. The designs were amazing. Deep, deep emotions seeing this story, thank you. for sharing.

Great collection and spirit. Careful with the storage, since sometimes bad chemical reaction occurs due to contact plastic / plastic in a closed box (Been there).

This is a fantastic video, so well made and brings back so many memories. I think we communcated back in the pre KZbin days when I think you were living in rural Victoria. I loved these toys and had hundreds of them - the tooly birds, camel trains, crater critters, fringies, national dress. I think of them often and think I'd love to have them again. I regret the day I or someone else threw them out! Luckily I kept three representative ones that were aboslute favourites. - australian animals.

Ive still got the whole collection of original 16 Kelloggs Toolie Tooly Birds from the early 70s..and each one of them a different colour...Priceless collectible

My favourite sets are the Space-Nits, Neptunes and Funny Fringies. I'd kill for an original cereal panel for any of these.

Great little piece! I recently started collecting the Astronit premiums but the Mexican re-casts are everywhere; because the original R&L molds were/are used in Mexico, do you know if the toys are marked "Australia" on the bottom?

The Mexico colors are different. the originals are very specific colors.
