I can testify that Robert Ryan was a good, intelligent guy, as I had the good luck to win an acting award at YCLA, and Mr. Ryan, kindly andcsweetly presented me with the award. Also, it is Walter Wanger with a soft "g", as I heard his name discussed on an old radio program, concerning the scandal about his marriage to Joan Bennett. Love your show and the emphasis on the FILM, over the technology. Can never thank you enough for the quality of your videos.

Kino Lorber continues to be my favorite Blu-ray label for releasing such an incredible and diverse assortment of films and with nice editions at affordable prices. I picked up around 30 titles during the recent Summer Sale. $10 for most of the Blu-ray editions and $18 for 4K.

H-F! Nude for Satan is my favorite movie of all time. I can't believe Nude for Satan is back in print. Mondo Macabro had no issue putting The Devil's Nightmare out on blu-ray and I kept waiting and waiting for them or someone to give Nude for Satan a blu-ray restoration of the correct aspect ratio. But it's good to know Salvation Films is back in business, I really miss those Succubi intros, which are permanently burned into my long term memory. Eileen Daly, where are you, you have what it takes to get Elvira packing her bags and leaving town.

I think Labels like Kino Lorber, Imprint or Indicator can`t thank you enogh for your videos. I am a huge fan of classic movies, but very often, I buy a DVD/Blu-ray just because you recommend them on your canal and I was never dissapointed and I am quite sure I am not the only one, who does that.

Dragnet the original series was fantastic! Sad that only about 60 episodes survived out of about 200 but I still have hopes someone has preserved originals in private hands. He Walked by Night (1948) is also a favorite of mine which was the catalyst of the show and the Dragnet (1955) movie was also good. I would love to hear a discussion on this and Appointment with Danger so I will be tuning in to that.

Hi Heath, the shorter vid format is appreciated. Narrow Margin is one of my favorite movies. I assume this 4K is from the StudioCanal scan (no HDR?) used for the previous Blu-ray. That Blu-ray, while better than anything that came before it, had some intermittant picture quality issues. Please review the 4K & give us your thoughts? It would be nice to know if the OCN, 4K transfer or Blu-ray transfer is at fault. Cheers!

The Chase was previously out on Blu Ray and DVD on the Kino Classics label, OOP now I think?

Please can you confirm about Columbo so the bellyaching can stop (or continue) about the aspect ratio. Message boards are rampant and folks saying that Kino dropped the ball on this release about using the wrong aspect ratio. I have preordered my copy but to some a deal breaker......

The aspect ratio is 1:78 widescreen. NBC Universal seems to have opened up the mattes on the side because the image doesn't look cropped at all. In fact, it looks quite cinematic and natural. The transfers are stellar.

The episodes are most definitely cropped and pretty badly at that. Comparisons can be found online. They were originally shot and aired in 4:3.

My wife and son went to a Fanex convention in the 90's and were trying to get in a side door at the hotel and who opens it for us to let us in but Kevin McCarthy. How cool is that! Also I've heard various things about 4k is it worth getting? I have two blu-ray machines and my ultra hd player won't work. I purchase a lot of Kino Lorber blu-rays. Keep up the reviews. I totally get the Lorre Love. There's a movie, currently on a Warner DVD, entitled THREE STRANGERS, with Sidney Greenstreet. It's been a mo since I have seen it but I am thinking it was either a Christmas Noir or a New Years Eve Noir, and I am hoping that it is eventually transferred to Blu.

I managed to check out NOWHERE SPECIAL during the one week it played theatrically in my area. I think it’s the best film I’ve seen so far this year. Incredibly moving without feeling manipulative or mawkish. Highly recommended.

As Carly Simon sang to James Bond, "Nobody does it better..." I prefer SPEED to BLOWN AWAY by a wide margin. I think its biggest plus is the chemistry between Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. (That's the movie that made Bullock a star.) The intro by Martin Scorsese for PURSUED was recorded back when it was released on VHS. (He recorded his intro for FORCE OF EVIL around the same time.) THE CHASE was previously released on blu-ray by Kino Lorber with the same commentary and radio programs. Nice to see some love for Jeff Speakman. Finally, any insight why NUDE FOR SATAN was a DVD release? Any other boutique label would have released this film on blu-ray or 4K. They could have released it as part of the Kino Cult line.

But if Speed and Blown Away were released three years apart, would be even be comparing them? Funny how this happens over and over (Braveheart/Rob Roy, Armageddon/Deep Impact, etc) I believe every Redemption release in that line has been DVD only. Not sure why, though.

It's my understanding that the second Columbo set is the wrong aspect ratio. With the exception of like the last 2 episodes, they are full screen, but this set is apparently cropped to be wide screen. That's really unfortunate and a deal breaker for me.

They're in widescreen, but we can't say they're cropped. They appear to have been opened up on the sides (black bars removed to open the mattes on the left and right), just like we see with many other classic television shows in the HD, widescreen era. What I've seen looks good. It's definitely not original aspect ratio, though.

I just uploaded some screenshots to my creator post page and also to my social media pages. There's definitely been some cropping, but some scenes have more information on the sides. Either way, I'm not upset by it. I'd have preferred original aspect ratio, but this is certainly not only very watchable, it looks pretty good.

@@scaps2200 We all have opinions. I have not seen the original messages but I can’t imagine that I would like it more than the remake. Amazingly, the remake has both Leonard Nimoy, and Jeff Goldblum. And they have a scene together!

I saw both in the theater around the same time. The '56 thrilled me more, and just felt like a great classic in that setting. It was Halloween at an old arthouse around 1980 and the theater was packed for the '56. One of the great movie experiences of my life. The remake was fine and has become better with time. Superior? Different. No complaints either way.

I simply object to people challenging my own opinions by stating theirs as a fact. Film, like all art, is subjective, and I remember this in every video I make, which is why I share preferences and not absolutes. Or, to put it another way, I've lost tolerance for people telling me I'm wrong. Opinions are never wrong.

Blown Aways came aorund the same time as Speed and The Specialist. 3 Bomb movies. Speed was the only one that was successful (both critically anc commercially) The Specialist was horrendous. Blown Away was kind of an uneven mess. Tommy Lee Jones was excellent in it. Jeff Bridges was not though. The Trailer for Blown Away was excellent though
