What have the openinig ceremony to do with football !? Knights, Gladiators, Archers and Breitner and Ricken look like from Gulliver's Travels,... oh my god. This ceremony was incongruous and has nothing to do with football.

I'm sorry to inform you, that in Germany, this opening ceremony was received with mixed feelings. Not because it wasn't a good performance but because there were soldiers and Germans normally don't accept anything that's militaristic as a part of a peacful sports celebration - I think it's more of a cultural things but especially people over 50 (The so called Nachkriegsgeneration) felt offended and the tabloids took the same line.
