Excellent video, a life saver. "do it gentler than I did". Also, the "see how is stays put" didn't exactly work for me because the fuser would not go in. Spent 15 minutes trying to get it in. I couldn't see what was stopping it from entering all the way.

Great video. I have a HP laserjet pro 400 m451dw that I keep getting a message "jam in output bin". I can open/close that rear cover, which will reset the error for one document, but then the error comes right back after that document prints. Can you help?

Just followed the video to replace the fuser on my M451. Configuration was slightly different . The black plastic frame went all the way around and I was unable to detach it at the bottom. Eventually I was able to flex it enought to remove the fuser without breaking. Installing the new fuser I bought on Ebay for $120 did, as you suggest, require some jiggling. A gentle whack did the trick. Works perfectly. Thanks

On mine the gear box on the left side has a plastic arm and pin that fell apart when I took it off. Part of the problem is that I too the 2 screws off the black cover on the gear box and I didn't need to. I don't know how it goes back together now. If you have pics or a video of that assembly I would appreciate it.

The Fuser is a roller, like a pizza roller, or a paint roller. Only, a fuser get's HOT. It burns the Toner powder to the paper. If it doesn't get hot enough, the fuser won't burn properly and the print will look crappy. Also, if it has a defect on the surface: a scratch, or something stuck to it, as it rolls over the paper, it will leave lines and marks, where the defect is. So, vertical lines, or repeating print defects, are a clear sign of a damaged fuser

Big issue that is clearly different on the old fuser you took out in the video and the new fuser you put in. The old fuser had a white plastic gizmo on a plate on the right end on your old fuser. Mine does too! However, when you replaced it, the new fuser was flat on the right end without that hardware. Mine is an M451dn exactly as in the video. Why did you not replace that part from the old fuser to the new fuser you installed? I have to think that part is there for a reason.

Hi, I have the same same printer and it's not printing cyan/blue. Other colors are printing fine. I replaced the cyan toner 3 times already and it's still the same. I also did the standard cleaning many times and no luck. Do you think it's a fuser issue? Thanks Gregg!

Oh man. That stinks. I would think it could be the Imaging unit. Which is hard to get, and very expensive. Mine failed, and it's actually sitting here ready to be tossed. Sadly.

My hp LaserJet 400 m415 does not pick paper once I send command to print. It tries to pick paper and then says paper jam in tray2. And sometimes when manages to print some copies, it starts printing only black without the colors. Please what can I do to fix it?

There is a rubber wheel called a “Pickup Rolled”. It’s meant to be replaced. It’s often bundled with a “Separation Pad”. Ebay will have them. I’d get, at least, the Pickup Roller

I would replace the Pick Up roller. Also consider replace the Seperation pad. They are often sold together as a "Maintenance kit". But, the roller is 99% your problem

Thanks for the great video. I have one of these I bought new and I ran the printed manual with staples through it (yes I left it in the paper try and forgot about it). Anyway there are dots on the print now and I think I need a fuser. Here's the dilemma: The printer now runs for just a couple hundred in ebay but the fuser is a bit more where I think I found it. I'm just out of toner (which seems to be about 100 bucks). So if I buy the fuser and toner that's like 400 bucks. Is it worth getting a different printer? Any thoughts? Should I consider one of the used fusers in ebay?

Oh boy. What a familiar situation. Been there a million times. I actually had a problem with mine, and, ended up finding another one, at a Rummage sale. Swapped out the whole thing! lol. The reason your getting the dots, is the staples scratched the heat roller of the Fuser, so, as it rolls along the paper, melting the toner to it... the scratch is repeating as it turns, burning itself to the page. Here's the thing, Laser printers like this are falling from the sky these days. Not kidding. I'm seeing them at Salvation Army, Good Will, Thriftstores, Restore, you name it! I have a few HD, a Dell, 3 Samsung... I'm like, $20? SOLD!! lol. It's crazy. Keep your eyes out... Having said that: Your always gonna need toner. It's way over priced, and sucks, but, I wouldn't count it as a repair cost. Toner is just part of the party. For the Fuser, if the auction accepts returns, say's it works, and it's enough of a savings, totally go for it. You should be able to get one for WAY under $400. @@GreggAdventure The fuser came in! I think it's the wrong one though. The label says RM1-8808-000 HP Fuser Assembly M401/M425 Q1/06/21. Is that right? I took pictures of it too. It doesn't look like the one in your video. Could there be a new version or knockoff that looks different? If not I need to start building a case that the amazon seller shipped the wrong one... Any thoughts?

It says LJ400, but, when I look at the model #'s, it looks like it's a NO-GO for the M451, which is the printer in this video, and, I suspect, the one you are working on? I guess there are different versions of the LJ400, which is a royal pain. Here's the part I should pointed out day ago... what did the page look like before you changed it?

The fuser is a HOT roller, that burns the toner to the page. It can scratch, which will leave a repeating print defect, or lines on the page. OR, the toner may not heat properly, which will make the toner streak on the page.
