FOX - Dog lost an eye and Magpie a wing in a devastating forest fire, but together they learn to collaborate and rebuild a life from the ashes. Then Fox, filled with rage and loneliness, joins them.
A compelling tale of friendship and betrayal, risk and courage, that is both affirming and (usefully) disturbing
THE ISLAND - A helpless and naked man arrives on the shores of the island on a ramshackled raft. The islanders have to decide what to do with him.
An astonishing and challenging story about refugees, human rights and fear of the 'other'.
Age Guide: FOX and THE ISLAND, both with stunning and gripping illustrations, are highly recommended for both children and adults, raising challenging questions about what it means to be human.

Margaret Wild is an award winning author and one of Australia's most highly respected writers of children's books.
THE ISLAND
Armin Greder is an author and illustrator, born in Switzerland and migrated to Australia. His stark charcoal drawings are reminiscent of Munch and the expressionist tradition.
