The example you gave only works if God was a human like us. The bottom line is we all have a rebellious, sinful nature passed down from our ancestors. The only power great enough to overcome that sin nature is the power of God. Hence, the reason when Jesus came He could do things like walk on water, raise people from the dead, heal people etc. Jesus is God incarnate and that’s why He was able to live as a human but without a sin nature. Because He was a human He then became the perfect substitute for us. It’s like a man committing a crime, standing before a judge to be sentenced and a stranger comes into the court and says to the judge I will pay whatever fine is necessary to keep the man out of jail. We humans are that man who committed the crime and Jesus is the stranger who came to the judge (God) and paid our fine with His blood. However, we have to accept what Jesus has done by confessing with our mouths that we believe Jesus died for our sins and rose from the dead. We then have to trust in Jesus like a person who jumps out of a plane and trust in a parachute. Without the parachute a person would fall to their death. Without Jesus a person will end up in hell as a consequence of our sins.
