hello bro, you are studying network, we have a guy who provide wifi service to our city and we have access to its office(or server) can we use that somehow to create a rotating proxy , (ie use all the router's IP in that network to send request. :)

Hi guys, There are a lot of questions about the DHCPOffer being broadcasted. Sometimes is broadcast, sometimes it's unicast. It can depend on the situation such as obtaining a new IP or renewing an existing one. I made the video like this for simplicity sake. If you fancy diving into the details, check out RFC 2131. Hopefully, this clears up any confusion.
@andreiignat31943 жыл бұрын
After the DHCP Server responds do the DHCPDiscover packet, the communication is not unicast ? The dhcp discover is broadcast, after that, the communication is unicast.

@@MrBrightsides DHCP packets probably are all broadcast messages cuz the client doesnt have an ip yet
@giorgiobuttiglieri58765 жыл бұрын
@@MrBrightsides They indeed are broadcast. In the DHCP packet there is a field that contains the MAC address of the client interested in configuring its parameters. All the other hosts that recieve those DHCP packets will drop them at the application level, since they recognize that the value of the client MAC address inside those packets is not equal to theirs.

I realised I needed to know what all these different acronyms mean and what they relate to. Now I know some simple stuff, I want to go deeper. You’d be surprised how many videos I had to click through ...that explain things using other acronyms!! Many thanks mate. Subscribed to your mail list. Hope your website is back up soon

I found this really helpful - trying to safely and knowledgeably configure my ZTE Router for a Mac, and until I found this, I'd sat through about 5 vids, the best I could find, not a single one in English, despite several of them claiming to be, and not a single one actually using a Mac to demonstrate. You asked for suggestions: I'd be really grateful if you could follow on from this video, and explain for us how DHCP Ports and Binding fit into all this, and what we can best do to set up safe and as much as possible privacy-protecting home networks. Dunno about anyone else, but my privacy seems to slipping through my fingers like sand atm. Without naming names, a certain antivirus company's home antivirus for Mac started crashing Logic, and since I'm a professional composer, that was a problem. So I discontinued my subscription, and deleted the account and subscription via their website. Well over a year later, I am STILL getting "urgent - update account payment details" emails from them, despite having railed on Twitter in the hope of just embarrassing them into action. They keep reassuring me all is well, and refer me to their Ts and Cs. Which is utterly vague about what happens to data and info on customers once they cease to be customers.. Now, I realise this has f...k (since we're playing to the Yank gallery, if you cant beat them, join them) all to do with DHCP. But it's an example of how completely vulnerable we are, in these earliest of days of the IT Revolution. So, someone - as you've done here - explaining not just what, but why and how, is a Godsend! A Millennial (or worse, a kid at school) might think "wtf, how boring?" I believe no one under the age of about 15 bothers to even write complete words anymore, we're supposed to divine what they mean from the clues in the choice of consonants and/or vowels they leave for us. But that's the Comprehensive System for you, as Victoria Wood wrote! Meanwhile, us poor Gen Xers, once proud of our O Level Computer Studies (1983, thought myself so 'advanced' - I could write in BASIC!! How sad is that!!?) but lost in the Saharan Sands of all the jargon and "Nerd-Speak" and I don't think I speak for just myself when I say I find this hard going, infuriating (I really have no idea who the fuck's got what the fuck about me, and why are they allowed to store private info anyway?) and therefore a little scary... Perhaps it is just me...? :-) It's OK - the kids love Bond movies, but haven't a f..cking clue what an E minor 9th chord is... To each his own! (It's that crunchy chord at the end of the Bond theme!)
