Very misleading, I work at a BMW Dealership and although tires and brake pads are not covered by any warranty as they are wear items, if they are worn more than 50% they are automatically replaced. The process of reconditioning these vehicles is very meticulous and the manufacturer actually sends a rep to inspect these vehicles and verify that it is being done to their standards.

CPO warranties CAN BE NEGOTIATED DOWN. We bought our 2014 MKZ through the Lincoln CPO program with around 38k miles on it and got it certified for $900, they originally want $1200. With Lincoln that means it had never been wrecked, and with a 100k mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, and roadside assistance. The CPO warranty paid for itself after having to have the car towed when the battery died and the rear shocks were replaced.

let’s face it....buying a pre-owned vehicle is always considered “hit or miss”. You really need to approach the situation with caution. Otherwise, it may cost you dearly down-the-lane. The profit margin for used cars are considered fairly high, whereas in general brand new cars’ profit margin are usually narrow. Therefore, all potential car buyers should CAREFULLY inspect the CPO vehicles from any authorized dealerships just as if they were buying from the mom-and-pop used car dealers, or private parties. Just my $0.02 pennies.
@sherifh5 жыл бұрын
I’ll stay away from opinion and stick to fact. Full disclosure I’m in the car business. THE BUYBACK GUARANTEE IS COVERED FREE OF CHARGE FROM CARFAX. Dealerships already do a full inspection of the vehicle when it comes in on trade. Just because it was a rental car doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. Contrary to popular opinion a rental car MUST be maintained with regular oil changes when they are due. Individuals are not required to do ANY maintenance on their vehicle. I agree with getting it inspected yourself. Midas offers free inspections in my area and they are very good. Finally the CPO essentially forces you to pay for a warranty whether you want it or not.

I bought a CPO Lexus RX350 from Lexus of Lehigh Valley, Allentown, Pa. in 2017. It was found to have $5500 in pre-existing glass and body damage, and voice recognition can't be fixed or replaced. This dealership got caught using an unauthorized, inexpensive aftermarket windshield on a newly purchased $31,000 CERTIFIED Lexus (they saved $800), then refused to honor their Certified Lexus warranty and told us not to come back! Carfax info is completely voluntary and can't be trusted either. In court their attorney repeatedly emphasized, "IT'S JUST A USED CAR!" WHAT AGD RIP OFF! If you think you have a chance in court, regardless of the documents, pics and estimates, you will need to find an honest judge. Good luck! I was considering buying a CPO, but when I wa checking a car I suspected that mileage probably was rolled back, a lot of scratches, sales person said the car was detailed but really it wasn’t all those signs stopped me. Multi point inspection I don’t think so, and finally the car sticker price was 19,000$ but then 23. something in the end of process. Really? Because as they say they added a piece of rubber as a protection package 😂. I won’t even look at CPO never again. The dealer can only do so much just to make it look more atractive to the used car buyer, and you should know! Thats a risk that you're willing to take! Is good that some dealers gives you a certification, giving you all they have done to the car and also warranties that they believe they should cover! Not all cars from the dealers have that! Some are buy as is! Wish means the risks are higher when buying a car as is. So do your home work before buying a used car. But good to know anyway! I dont wanna sound sexist! But this should apply to female buyers! I have seen some females at my work and have ask them, why did you buy the used car? And in reply! They tell me because they like the car and the way it looks", i also ask them, if they know what type of engine does the car have? How many cylinders? If is all wheel drive? Etc etc. And their answer! Well you guessed it! They dont know!" Like i said! Some womans not all of them! Im just trying to have some of you ladies informed! Do your homework!
