Two years after cervical spine reconstruction at C4-C5, Rodney is back in the gym 5-6 days a week and enjoying life with no limitations. After experiencing headaches in the back of his head and tingling in his fingers, he learned he had significant developmental narrowing of the spinal canal with severe cord compression with stenosis.
Using ultrasonic spine surgery, Rodney's spinal canal was reshaped and we opened up the canal to alleviate the pressure on the cord. Doing so, we are able to rebuild the canal without using rods and screws.

I love it! Fixing the root cause of the issue instead of unnecessarily removing anatomy. I have my surgeon consult tomorrow but I couldn't find anyone that uses the ultrasonic method in NJ. I may be making an appointment.

I also have developed stenosis at C4-C5 and experiencing nagging pain and stiffness in the left side of my neck. It is encouraging to see a potential option to get it treated without giving up my active life. I’m seeing a surgeon next week to discuss options and am glad to have found your videos. Your surgeon is going to recommend a fusion or disc replacement, dr cantor approach is better and no hardware in your neck. I have the same problem now, need insurance tho. You got insurance, call Dr cantor trust me.

I sent my MRI and my info to the intake folks at the Ft. Lauderdale office three weeks ago and requested Second Opinion. I’ve heard nothing from anyone. Oh well.

Awesome! I have pretty much the same problem (for years now). I'd love to hear and see more about the procedure. Here in Germany they don't seem to know about this technique. They offer me to put a spacer between the vertebrae and fuse them.

You should check out misonix bonescalpel. It’s a line of ultrasonic technology that neuro and Ortho spine surgeons use. There are different attachments, particularly micro and macro hook shavers that allow the surgeon to go in and decompress nerves. Pretty amazing technology.

@@DrJeffreyCantor I sent an email with my lumbar and cervical MRI’s reports. I am 100% disabled veteran but I live in Iowa. Praying the VA pays for it. I have a 2 year old that I would love to have an active part with as she grows. God bless y’all for your endeavors to mankind.

Mine looked alot more compressed. It looks like a C in my canal. I have a hard time holding up my arm. My deltoids hurt. I have tingling numbness loss of balance. Cervical instability. I am not the same person anymore. I can't think straight. At c3 i have a small protrusion as well. I need guidance. I have children and i keep getting messed up worse by these surgeries. They don't listen to me about my symptoms.

He only has significant stenosis at C4-5 and C6-7 on that sagital. Not sure why you’re implying every other surgeon would have fused him from C2 all the way down? How much did he have to pay out of pocket for full transparency? That way everyone knows that side of the cost of ‘ground breaking’ technology.

I believe what he was saying is that if you get a fusion surgery it puts all the stress on the spine above and below the fusion this leading to future fusions.

Hi Sir is Cervical Stenosis the same as a pinched nerve? I have a pinched nerve C6 and was told i need anterior neck surgery and am scared to death. I have has this for about 6 weeks. Can you please help me? I dont want to have surgery 😢

I had 4 vertebrae fused I regret it deeply. I wish I had the ultrasonic surgery. I was a very active athlete and competitor . The fusion has taken all that from me. I’m deeply saddened. I wish I had known about this.

very informative videos, thanks for the great content! curious - does this type of surgery only work when the cause of stenosis is of arthritic nature? or can it also be used for bulged sicks and calcified anterior cervical ligaments that are encroaching on the spinal cord causing the stenosis (as opposed to bone growth)? Any clarity would be appreciated.

Ever take on poor people cases? Lol 49 with multi level cervical degenerative disc-osteophyte complexes and facet degenerative hypertrophy. Associated multilevel up to severe neural foraminal narrowing and mild central canal narrowing. Newest on the scans are the marrow edema this year. The numbness and weakness gets worse every year and had to quit my job of over 25 years last fall. 😭🥺 Not sure how much longer I'll be able to afford my insurance. It'd just be nice to turn my head or put on a jacket or pick up something with out pain again 🤷‍♀️

What if you have all that, DDD, arthritis, narrowing discs a fusion at C6-C7 and a reversed cervical curve? The surgeon wants to do a lamenectomy from C3-C6 so he can stabilize it and pull the curve back with screws and rods. So I would be fused at 4 levels with rods and screws at 3 levels. That's terrifying because I know if you can't turn your head, the pain and spasms will never go away. I am not able to work at the moment, but I need to work. Wondering if PT gets me functional if postponing a year or so is going to cause more damage. I have severe pain, spasms all the way to my trapezious and ribs with dystonia in the shoulder and arm and leg weakness and balance issues. I have fallen several times and rarely go anywhere because my legs aren't working properly (intermittently.) So how do you address cervical kyphosis with this method?

Hi Doc. Recently found out I have congenital cervical stenosis, T4 degenerated disk and L3 stenosis. Had a conventional with my orthopedic and he mentioned doing a fusion for the cervical. I’m not a fan of having rod & screws. Is it possible to do ultrasonic procedure-be able to keep my mobility. As for my T4 degenerated disk I was told it’s not necessary to have surgery but it’s painful and limiting me from doing basic exercising like jogging or even walk on a treadmill. I want to get back to doing normal activities. Please advise. Thank you.

I had ACDF on Tuesday morning, Sent home late Wednesday. Couldn't swallow Thursday, called the doctor, Couldn't swallow Friday. Spoke with the Dr. who siad it was inflamation. Could not swallow pain killers or muscle relaxants. Or a teaspoon of water. Could not reach Dr. weekend. Emergency Room early Monday morning - immediately Cat scan. Large Hematoma was completely blocking esophagus. 5 doctor meeting. 1)more Surgery, 2)radiology procedure with a stint - quite dangerous, or 3)steroids. Steroids was chosen I had NO water for five days and no food for 9 days. I lost 20 lbs in 9 days. First days of food was cup of jello and apple sauce. 5 weeks later I still have eat very small bites and slowly. I am a singer. I have no voice. Failure to monitor drain properly. 1% risk for this procedure.
