Yay for Mortius being back with acapella; you just can't quit us! It is truly beautiful, plus a lovely storyline and it is unique sonically.

Absolutely be proud of yourself for picking up on the arrangement style! (And for being familiar with who Rob Dietz actually is - some reactors also checked who arranged this but then didn't recognize his name). Also you sinking fully out of frame at Geoff's super low vocal line was amazing 😂
@ForeverDegenerate5 ай бұрын
I was actually rather surprised that most of the reactors didn't know who Rob Dietz was considering they always look at who arranges VoicePlay's Music and Rob has arranged for them before. He's usually the Co-Arranger though, so, maybe, the reactors never saw his name because all they saw was Geoff, Layne, or Eli and just ignored the fact that they had a Co-Arranger? But yeah, I knew, almost immediately, that this wasn't arranged by VoicePlay. I could feel the difference, like, 30 seconds in. I was like, "Hang on. This sounds different. Who arranged this?" Then I saw the name and went, "Ah. That would do it." Admittedly, I didn't really like this arrangement the first time I heard it. But after repeated listenings due to watching reactions, I have come to appreciate it. It's a beautiful arrangement. Making it Spanglish was brilliant and making it a breakup regret song between two people is so VoicePlay. That being said, I do prefer VoicePlay's arrangements more. However, I don't mind Rob popping in once in a while as a guest Solo Arranger. He's, obviously, worked with them for a long time and knows their voices well enough to arrange properly for them. As long as he doesn't stray too far from VoicePlay's style, I've got no problems with him.

@@ForeverDegenerate He was the solo arranger for We're Good and Good 4 U, and he co-arranged Dream On and Sleeping In The Cold Below with Geoff. He's also the sole arranger or at least co-arranger for a large majority of the Minis
@ForeverDegenerate5 ай бұрын
@@felicitymcdonald24 I haven't watched/listened to We're Good or Good 4 U so that's good to know. And I didn't know he arranged most of the Minis so, also good to know.

Fun fact: Jim Steinman, who originally wrote this song, also used it in the German musical Tanz der Vampire (Dance of the Vampires) he wrote the music for in 1997. It opens up the second act and is a duet between the female protagonist - a young girl who is tired of her very safe and boring life - and the vampire antagonist who is tempting her with what he can offer. Sadly the English version of the show bombed spectacularly due to really bad rewrites but the original is awesome and definitely worth checking out. =) Studio recording of Totale Finsternis (this song) with video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6LJoYGGmc55grs Filmed live on stage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYqQlX-krcxriac Entire show with English subtitles (playlist, this song is in the fourth video): kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYDdoKuXZ82Bmas

So happy I caught the premiere. Cesar steals the show with his voice and acting. I love how they blended in the Spanish version that my Puerto Rican best friend's mother always sang when we were kids. "Those Geoff things" is an accurate way of describing that man's voice, haha! It's also a nice rare treat to get another song with Layne on vocals. Congrats on 40k subs and the new Open Arms Reactions channel. Loving your work over there with Casper.

@5:45 Instead of calling it monotone, it is usually refereed to as a pedal tone when it happens in the base like here.

Peter Barber calls Geoff's "monotone" a bass line. It runs under the rest of the vocals just like a bass guitar would. Great reaction.❤❤

Rob has arranged for them several times, especially for their shorts/minis. Eli told him the direction he wanted it to go and Rob just went with it. I loved Ashey's alto at the beginning, it is gorgeous. If it had been Geoff, Layne, or Eli arranging, Geoff would have dropped an octave at the end.

Hello Mr. Mortius, I understand that this may not be your usual genre, but I would like to recommend a song to you. As a fellow musical theater performer, I believe you will appreciate it. The song is called "The Funny Man's Smile," and it is a beautiful tribute to Robin Williams. To anyone who may come across this comment, I highly recommend that you look up and listen to this song. It is a hidden gem that deserves to be shared all across the internet. I hope you have a wonderful day or night, whichever it may be for you.

Hello! One of the Epic musical people here! I started watching this channel because of the Epic reactions, and love them to the point of doing my best of keeping the time slot of the premiers for them clear so I can watch them, but I stumbled upon the Voiceplay Be Prepared, and it got me hooked on them! Currently actually watching this video from the playlist you mentioned in the intro, and I'm looking forward to every single video in it! I also may have gotten my girlfriend hooked on Geoff (she's a sucker for deep voices and bass singers!)

Hey, I get this is a bit of a long shot, but I was wondering if you’d ever check out any Newfangled Four. There’s one song they do that not only would I love to see you listen to them, but also they discuss their insecurities they have with the music industry that I’d love to see your perspective on (it is through a comedy lens though, which makes it fun). Anyway, if you don’t, totally understandable, but it’s still a fun listen to so if you ever have some free time, check out Bear Necessities by NF4
