I love how Cesar was really present with Karen when she was upset. He was very empathetic, without trying to ‘fix’ her. He just sat with her. Brilliant 💖

Exactly! He did "reward" the human's anxiety either! He works with humans just like he works with animals. He stays present until the release all their anxiety and finally calm down themselves, and then he rewards with a hug! He is so, so good!

As a former military wife, it is extremely stressful. Your husband is gone a lot facing the demands of being in the military while the wife is left with all of the responsibilities of running the household and in this case also dealing with a special needs child. I can so relate. Most civilians don’t understand that When a spouse serves, the whole family serves. Cesar was so compassionate and understanding with her. This is what is needed.💕

This has been a great video, especially since they helped Toby to be around kids. However, as a teacher I believe we have to address special needs children in a different way. When you say that a child”suffers” from Asperger’s, you are creating a sense of suffering and feel sorry for the child. As with helping dogs and not feeling sorry for them we can approach our perception of a special needs person as being different but not afflicted. So, let’s say a person is on the spectrum, has Asperger’s and move forward from there. Thanks for all you do Cesar👍

Too many children are "diagnosed" with autism/asbergers and then put on medication when what they really need is to clean up their diet. My nephew was put on medication and then came to stay with me for awhile where I changed his diet. He lost weight, and did not take any more med's which were NEVER needed in the first place. The first question your doctor/veterinarian should ask is, "what is your diet". THAT is the key to health. These "doctors/vets" are glorified pill pushers. It's all about the MONEY.

Give these kids more of a chance in the families. Dear God! How can she be so pessimistic about her child. I am a professional and I see and sense her struggles with her child. Children on the spectrum are incredible beings! They are so intelligent. They don’t have “social” struggles. They have their own language that we as their caregivers have to learn. It’s like having a Spanish speaking child. The culture and language are different and we give them a chance. Let’s give these children the same respect. They are living with us. They have a different culture, social connection and language. Give him a chance mom. What is stopping you!?!

The way you speak isn’t giving him the credit simply for existing as he is. We are always striving for them to be like us. We need to learn to communicate with them just as they are. Sooo many of them are gifted and talented from birth. Focus on them and build the talents they already have. To do this, you learn to understand their language and meet them there. Change you. As the daughter of a career US Navy fighter pilot, I know the stress in a military family. My mother didn't handle it well, but when my dad was home, I fed off his calm and positive energy (even after deployments to Vietnam flying missions). It took years of therapy to get past the negative influence of my mother - which put me into abusive personal relationships. But the best "medicine" has been the dogs I've had. The empowerment of having a 130 lb German Shepherd see me as his leader, and yet supply unconditional devotion has made me a good role model for my (now adult) children. I am convinced that's why dog is GOD backwards.

One thing that really gives me chills is how a person can leave his family for weeks or months for a job just for a job. There is nothing on earth that can give you the life and moments that you lost with your family ever back to you. Family and friends are not negotiable period. It is life and mental health if you give that up you give your life away.
