@@hawaiibound. We were on a Church Mission and All the dogs were vetted, and All new owners were pre checked and signed off to their needs, as some had issues. We maintained All addresses and some actually paid for their long distance travel expenses. We had the Guidance from God 🙏 the support from Vetenarians, as All the dogs had to be vaccinated to travel legally. Truly a Long Labor of Love ♥ Thank You for Your Question, it is very valid indeed 😊 P.S...We still receive updates and photos 🐶

Esar this was a tearful episode .the owner/trainer had overlooked the essential ability to have this dog RELAX . He needed an off switched installed. She and her dog were fabulous and ready for this correction. Cesar you are amazing. 🎉 😊

The problem is not the dog being always on. Mals are supposed to be that way. The problem is the dog developed bad tendencies due to poor training. Imo this dog shouldn't not be working. It's a liability.

As a dog trainer myself, I was very surprised to see these people doing bite work with Sting before his basic obedience training was solid. Cesar is right to immediately work on relaxation with this dog so he will have an on/off switch instead of always being on.

They contend that forcing them into roles they are not suited for can lead to suffering, both for the dogs and for the communities they serve. Some critics believe that K9s should be utilized solely for search and rescue missions, where their specialized training and instincts can be effectively utilized. It is essential for law enforcement agencies, policymakers, and society as a whole to ensure that K9s are used responsibly and not being abused by their handlers. I have witnessed some very disturbing videos of police officers abusing their K9 partners and it's very disheartening to see that police officers are not being held accountable for the abuse against their dogs. When watching K9s at work, it's important to remember that these poor animals are often abused. It is important that we all keep the welfare of those animals in mind.

With high drive dogs trained for protection / field work (and this dog is trained regardless of what anyone thinks) it is not uncommon for them to redirect onto their handler. This is done out of frustration. Frustration at being primed to do something but there's nothing to do; frustration at wanting to do something and being restrained; frustration at the mixed or poorly communicated signals from their handler. If you have ever seen someone at a bar or whatever lose their cool and really want to wail in on someone and notice how they dont take too kindly to being stopped by someone and how that person, even if they are a friend, may have to dodge a swing aimed at them or simply be shoved, its the same thing. Get wound up, get focussed, get restricted then get angry at whoever or whatever is holding them back. Even if its their best friend. Its the same thing. Having Sting do some bitework takes the edge off his energy and frustration levels and makes it easier to do other tasks or training with him. Plus, it is what this dog is literally bred and trained to do. Its in generations of DNA and 3 years of training - his whole life. Working line Mals live to bite. It's their biggest love and most efficient outlet. It is no different from Cesar putting on the rollerblades and taking a pet dog for a run to drain them of energy before getting down the the business of rebalancing. When on the suit, it takes an incredible amount of energy to hold a bite and this will help drain him and make him more amenable to learn be more at ease. His aversion to having his neck/collar touchednis directly related to that being what restricts him. Second to thatbis the person doing the restricting. So, he redirects at that trigger towards the handler. I would hazard a guess that whoever initially trained him did it factory style with litttlenif any personal attention or affectin and didnt chill him out after working him with play or affection in the same way you walk a racehorse to cool it down after a race. I can guarantee he was worked then caged/crated rinse and repeat with no downtime in between. There is a certain group of people whobshall remain nameless who have recently gotten on board with the Malinois fad and are indiscriminately breeding dogs in puppymill conditions with limited human interaction or affection. They are just a cash cow crop. But, I bet you he didnt have downtime incorporated into his formative training so is why he was always in Go! mode. Carols unfortunately common habit that dog owners have of giving affection at the wrong time (we see it as reassuring, calming or comfort while dogs perceive it as reinforcement that their current behavioural state is the correct state) simply reinforced this constant Go! state of mind. Proper training for a Mal is the polar opposite of the usual dog training, right from puppyhood, and thats something few people understand. Pet dog training is about Restriction. Don't bite. Don't jump up. Don't be rough. Don't bark. Don't bark at people. Don't growl at people. Don't shepherd or be overtly protective. Don't run about like a mentalcase and detroy everything and anything. People train their dogs to be *civilised.* Mals should *never* be restricted from acting out and displaying their true nature. Its up to whoever is handling them to make sure there's nothing in their reach that they aren't supposed to get hold of and to make sure they dont get up to mischief or be in possibly harmful situations by managing the environment they and the dogs are in. Everything these dogs do needs to be encouraged and channeled. Thats why they get flirt poles and mini sleeves as pups and allowed to bite and nip and play rough and short bursts of intensive training begin as soon as you can hold their attentin and at an age when other breeds of dog are still on the tit. Their 'wildness' needs to be precisely countermeasured by razor sharp training to ensure a balance between the two so you end up with a confident, willing and super obedient dog that is 200% sure of what its capable of. Their inherent tendencies to chase/bite/be on guard need to be encouraged in conjunction with equal amounts of knife-edge sharp obedience through luring and reward. No restriction, all desire and carefully micromanaged training to balance their uninhibited character. Up until the age of 14-18 months, depending on the individual dog, they will chew through your house and possessions faster than termites on crack if left unattended because all they want to to is bite, gnaw, and shred. This is why crates are a must. And its not just what they can get in their mouth. If they cant reach whatever with their jaws, they will use their feet to hook and drag things closer. I have never meet a more tactile breed of dog. They are like bloody cats. A bitch I had would even use her hind legs to drag things closer if she was tethered. She would turn around and back up as far as she could and drag things with her hind feet. I left her tied to my car in the shed while I was fixing a chew sleeve. I turned my back for a few minutes and this 10mth old pup was able to reach over and hook the aux wiring cable for a seeder that was well out of front paw and mouth range, and bring it close enough she could then reach it with her front paws and eventually get it in her mouth and shred it. $700 trick 😂 thats what it cost to fix. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadnt recreated the scene because I was scratching my head wondering how in hell she'd reached it. I spied on her and saw her doing something similar and realised thats how she reached the stuff I thought I'd put well out of her reach. And you can't tell them off, or discourage them or inhibit them. The worst thing you can do to a Mal is to discourage inherent behaviour like you would a pet dog. These dogs need to be as autonomous as safely possible for them to even have a fraction of the confidence needed to be able to do the things they need to do. While a well trained Mal will do what you ask when you ask on command, these dogs also need to be able to think for themselves and have the training, ability and confidence to act accordingly when necessary even if theres no human around to tell them what to do. This is why you can never dent their confidence or tell them off for being themselves. Plus, its in their nature like scorpians sting and spiders bite. And its that nature they are in demand for - and makes them terrible pets for unsuitable owners - but thats the nature that is encouraged for them to be successful and confident working dogs. Life with young Mals is all about forethought and mitigation - and crates, did I mention crates? - or you'll be in constant despair with and empty wallet from replacing all sorts of stuff that gets eaten. They are one of the greatest breeds of dogs and its a criminal shame they are so popular now because greedy and careless breeding its creating mud bloodlines and causing the breed no end of genetic damage with too many ending up with completely unsuitable owners and living as neurotic and frustrated pets in homes giving the breed a bad reputation.

We just got our Malinois puppy looks just like sting only tiny 8 weeks and are already learning the ABSOLUTE TRUTH about plenty of running snd swimming exercise that these dogs need in order to be calm surrender! Because of this commitment we have to our dog KOBE we are also losing weight and staying focus !!

What a fantastic rescue program--and such a happy ending! I love this episode's message, too. I adore my Maligator, but indeed, they are HIGH octane and need a job like no other working breed I've owned (mainly GSDs and Great Pyrs--who still need jobs nonetheless). It's so amazing to see this Story. At the same time it makes me happy and sad. It's reminds me of my Malinois Dog Ella (from Steinteichmühle (Berlin Germany). She past away 2018 after 14 years of the BEST time of my Life. I still think about it every day. I get her in the Age of 1 Year, she was also thrown away because she was supposedly unsuitable for police service. But she give me a new Life as a Dogtrainer.

He wasnt 'off'. It may have looked likenit but he can spring into action faster than you can blink even when you think hes asleep. Sport and working line Mals dont turn off. They aren't pets or bred to be pets. Especially working line dogs that are LE or protection trained so not only do the have the hyperdrive genetics, but they have the training too. He now just had two 'on' positions: go? & go! Because of missing steps in his previous training (before Carol got him) and Carol's unfortunate habit of rewarding him with affection at the wrong time, Sting had been 'taught' to always be the go! position and be a split second away from activatation. Watch his ears. A dog will tell you what hes thinking, feeling and looking at by the set of his ears. Even when laying flat out and chill, Stings ears are letting you know hes still 100% aware of what's going on around him and in go? mode. He's a working line Mal. It's just how they are. (For clarification, I breed and train Mals in Australia for protection and LE/Armed Services. I'm not just some rando on yt talking out my butthole lol)

@ducie1191 yeah, I get that 👍 I'm just saying that their Off switch is more like a Standby lol This is one area that I've always said a silent No to when it comes to Cesar and what he does. And, trust me, I've been a fan and follower of his method since the very first time I saw him in action. The way I've interacted with dogs all my life, I got laughed at and told I was a wierdo because I used the dogs own way of communicating - body language, demeanour and behaviour- to train and work with them. So, seeing him in action was a huge Yes! for me. Here was someone else who understood and got it and I've admired and adored him ever aince. He's correct when he says that when it comes to rebalancing dogs and taking into consideration their behaviour and habits, they are Dog first, then breed second. But with these purebred purpose bred breeds like Mals, LGD (Livestock Guardian Dogs), hunting dogs and retrievers etc. and yes, Pitbulls too, and the very carefully and thoughtfully bred Huntaways and Heading Dogs (sheep and cattle working dogs) I was training and working as a kid in NZ, sometimes you need to look at breed and genetics first. This can be the biggest drive factor and indicator of what's causing their issues. These dogs are bred because the dam and sire both possess traits and characteristics that you want in their progeny, and the dog you are left with is the result of deliberate breeding of generations of dogs to get to that one point. Rather than just breeding for looks like 99% of purebred pet dogs, this concentration of character traits leaves us with some very intense and purposeful dogs that, when they have issues, their breeding and genetics need to be taken into account as a primary factor. Yes, they are dogs, of course, but the main focus needs to be on the breed if we want to find answer and solutions for their problems. And even if their problems are a result of human mistreatment or mismanagement, their genetics can play a huge role in how they will react to stressors and triggers above and beyond how the average dog would in the same situation. This is why mongrels, or fruit salad dogs asni like to call them, are great as family pets. They tend to be a less intense and more biddable animal that lacks the concentration of genetics that can produce very specific problems and intense dogs. And, fruit salad dogs tend to be a lot easier to rebalance or rehabilitate so they are the best choice if you are looking at adopting from a pound or shelter. Generally, a purebred dog that's been surrendered has been surrendered for a reason and knowing their history, genetic and social, can play a critical role in successfully rehoming them.

People are too quick to want to progress from the basics. I have always had rescue dogs. This time I got a puppy. I researched how to bring up a puppy using your books and a local trainer. I spent the first 12 months on basics with my first puppy. She is perfect and I am now in a sport and she is doing well. I have a dog is a perfect family pet and working dog. The basics make training anything so easy

My xolo was a naturally difficult dog and it was fascinating to watch her go from taking affection, to giving it, to accepting it. I feel the same wonder when watching as she reasons that, indeed, I probably do know best. Lately, age 5, I see she ignores all other human commands and deders to me on proferred treats. I didn't teach that. I appreciate it, though!

I still recall watching The Dog Whisperer many years ago, and Andre was just a wee kid. It is really wonderful to see him grown up, looking more handsome than Cesar (sorry, Cesar😊) and working alongside his dad. I am so happy for Cesar. Cheers from Singapore!
