As a total layman who just got into this sport via random YT suggestion, the "talent" difference between some players still seems quite obvious. Some people are making all the right shots, but their shots are bouncing off the jaws of the pocket before going in, or not gliding along the jaws in an elegant arc with some subtle spin, or not avoiding the jaws entirely, or their shots are rattling in the pocket cus' of the wrong pace. It seems like the difference between two people making 75% of their free-throw shots in basketball, but one of them is doing almost all swishes when they make it, and the other is hitting some rim-shots and backboard shots- they're technically achieving the same thing, but one's method just seems to imply greater skill. It's interesting

For a has-bin shooter I’ve never seen anyone like O’Sullivan. A few pros sure can give him a game - but he repeatedly takes the year and like master that he is consistently drops century with an ease that always is astounding.
