Nice video, I'm currently at 10 hours working through the PPL syllabus. Just started circuits and this is a great "quick" guide . Its amazing how much more confident you feel flying once you've done a few circuits and know that you can land safely !

Good old Sandtoft, did my PPL there back on 2005. Brings back the memories especially the street light on short final.

Currently getting into Circuits... It is a lot of take in as you watch this, but when you do it, with a good instructor, it all comes together... OH yeah.... Read... LOTS...

Bien filmado el instrumental y los comandos, es fácil advertir lo que el instructor va explicando, a pesar de no entender el idioma inglés... muy bueno el video, felicitaciones para el instructor y su acompañantes.- Estos videos realmente enseñan mucho...

Well generally speaking with the cost of gas, aircraft, and instructor your looking at possibly around 110-150 per hour. Plus the additional costs of Headset (optional), books for study, the cost of written exam and check ride. That sounds close to around 6 or 7.

Watching this video and the behaviour of my Carenado (or X-Aviation) Cessna 152ii (about $20) for X-Plane (9 or 10) there is absolutely no doubt that flying on a simulator will teach you the basics perfectly fine. Obviously it doesn't feel the same but it It just looks the same, and most controls and switches are simulated very well. There is only slight difference in the way the gauges and switches get manipulated with (sim:just switch or move, real:switch or move a few times dunno why...)

7000 in the UK is a "conspicuity" code.. Manual of ATC says: Conspicuity Code 4.7.1 The conspicuity code, 7000, together with Mode C should be displayed by all suitably equipped aircraft unless: a) they have been assigned a discrete code; b) they are flying in an aerodrome traffic pattern below 3000 feet; or c) they are transponding on one of the special purpose codes or on one of the other specific conspicuity codes assigned in accordance with the UK SSR Code Allotment Plan.

There is a few speeds to consider, the speed on approach, the speed when hovering over the runway just before touchdown and the speed when the aircraft wheels touch the ground. The speed I think you mean is when the wheels touch the ground, which in normal conditions is about 50-55kts

Good instructional video. Remember that everyone has to perform the pre flight inspections before anything. I thinks because the time it takes, it wasn't performed. I love to fly!!!

***** I can attest to that. I started on FSX and went on to get my PPL. It isn't that hard to break most of the habits you learn, but the one I did have trouble with was keeping my eyes outside. For the longest time I was just staring at my gauges, but eventually I managed to look outside.

@AR123457 I always land with the stall horn going, the trick is to make sure when you actually stall your just a few inches off the runway, that way you touch down nice and smooth, and your slow as you can be

NPPL(A) vs. PPL(A) Basically the NPPL(A) is for UK (and now France) flying with no options for add ons such as night/bad weather/aerobatics flying. (NOTE: it is not set in stone that you cant fly outside of the UK/France with it). PPL is best if you want to fly commercially in the future, or upgrade your license with extra ratings. NPPL 32 hours of flying PPL 45 hours From experience, most people who did NPPL then did PPL later

@yenbey1 I have no idea about the height but you should be fine. My instructor was around 6 maybe 6 foot 1 I dunno. And they get blown around alot but turbulence is nothing to be afraid of. It's like bumps in the road and you will very rarely encounter severe turbulence. In fact your instructor probably won't let you out in it. I've gone out in extreme turbulence before and it's fun- just fly slower than Va and you're perfectly safe.

Right, I suppose. What kind of habits are you referring to? Any examples other than stick and rudder skills? like differences in the procedures, checklists, maneuvers?

Maybe where you are. But where I fly here in Norway you squawk 7000 for VFR traffic unless told otherwise by ATC.

i don't know if thats our standard in landing considering with 50ft obstacle, even we takeoff with flaps 1 and rotate at 65kts and maintain 75kts to cruising alt..btw i fly c150

Weren't we were talking about approach? Cessna 150 and 152 on are pretty similar on app. Stall speeds are 1kt higher in 152 wich is not a big difference and same airspeeds would apply. I notice that people who fly app fast tend to come in too high and they have to flare a lot wich is not a problem if you have 3km runway. I would stick to the manual, it's made for an average Joe. 65Kt normal app speed and 55kt for Short field. If your instructor can't teach you that ist time to sack him or her.

I'm 15 and hoping to do a PPL course but not sure weather it's better to do a NPPL or just the PPL. I know there is a lot less hours needed and it's cheaper but there is more restrictions can anyone tell me which is better!!!

Opening up a whole can of worms with the discussion here. Be aware that there are 2 schools of how to fly an airplane - Attitude reference & airspeed primary. Instructors will differ in what they teach depending on which of those schools they belong to and what training school they teach at. Just stick to what your instructor says regarding parameters.

I teach on 152 and I disagree with your instructor,by diverting from POH he is disabeling you from becoming proficient in the aircraft.Stall speed of 152 is 43kt with flaps, this means that you can saefly fly app. with flaps at 56kt.If you fly it without flaps your app airspeed can be 64kt.Anyway once you manovering is done and you are on final it is OK to fly 1.3Vs0.If you fly 75kt instead of 55kt it will double your landing dis. If there are strong gusts you fly Normal app + 1/2 of gust speed

Hi, I'm aiming to do my PPL this year, when do you think is the best season to do it, summer or winter (say like November ish) when air is more dense, and just above freezing it's usually nice and clear? Cheers.

I use to fly cessna 152's in high school as a part of CAP (civil air patrol) Had i known then what i know now i wouldve stuck with it to at least get my pilots license. the cost is so high these days. aside from all that, i always wondered why these cessna's are always in such poor conditions. Granted most are not new, many got some real years on them. but you would think the owners would keep them in decent condition. theyre planes after all. I mean i get it, the little 152 is basically a vw bug with wings but ide certainly wouldnt trust flying about in and old beater. Thats just me. Not hating just saying, safety is most important.
