next time you have to push an airplane on rough ground or in your case that heavy sand, just roll the top of the tire with your hands, it acts like a gear and gives good gear leverage. little trick i learned working on the ramp fueling

Out of all the places to have an engine failure, this was one of the better one. Congrats on managing the emergency like a pro.

That is so honest. You are not trying to hide anything. I am very impressed with you, your flying, and that you are shearing it all with us. Thank you Larry! All the best form the Norwegian.

DID YOU SAY THAT SOMEONE LEFT A RAG IN THE ENGINE!!?!?!?!?!? WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!
@mustardseedsociety
@mustardseedsociety Жыл бұрын
@@CrosswindSurfer So is that what he said ?? I heard the "something got into the engine" but could not make out the rest. Now if that's true {and thanks for bringing this up} I actually see it as good news and before anyone freaks out I'll explain. The premise is the engine had a failure and there's nothing that can undo it. You can't "rewind the tape" and have a do over. So at this point, what you are hoping to see is a goof mistake such as leaving a rag in the engine as the cause. That means that there is nothing inherently wrong with the design of the engine and to me that is FANTASTIC news. That means if we just simply make sure there are no rags left in the engine, we can expect the engine to run flawlessly assuming it was put together correctly and the maintenance is done correctly. It's the same philosophy as the Airbus that had the vertical stab break off about 20 years ago. One reporter on TV was quoted as saying "thank GOD it was not terrorism that brought the plane down" and I about kicked the TV in !!! Because think about it, if terrorism is ruled out, that means you have a REAL problem -a design problem. And on the Airbus there was actually an AD that came out. After so many hours you have to take a core sample of the composite spar on the vertical and send it to a lab. If it comes back bad, you replace the vertical stab. If it's good, you fill the sample bore with composite resin and the AD is terminated. {Air Bus 320}

I’ve watched quite a few of your videos. I’m a private Pilot flying the Cessna 182. Many of your videos are high risk no reward landings. Most of your content is short take off or short field landing videos. I’ve landed at Catalina, ca. and used less than 900 feet on landing. Landed in Chandler Az at 58 mph and had the airplane stopped in 800 feet. I like your content, but most private pilots can do the same with a little risk. In this video, you bet on the wrong landing. All the same. Keep posting, I like the Idaho flights.

Great story of the 182 i always follow you from way back as one of your subscribers ( that was a major expense but as you are well known you got some great discounts and help from a passionate aviation community. I had wondered what the ending was. Did you keep the C-170 and the Chinese war bird ? Do you plan to go to" Sun and fun" air show this year? If so please let me know I would enjoy meeting you I will be there .

Great story and final outcome. When you landed on the beach, did the mains get stuck or was it the nose wheel? Did you have the yoke pulled back as much as possible?

I have a few questions ?? {1] have you looked into a BRS for your C182 ?? {2} as far as what caused the partial failure - I got there was a blockage of an oil passage to cylinder #6, but I can't make out the rest of the statement - something got into the engine - what was that something ?? Also how was it a partial failure ?? If cylinder #6 was getting no oil, did the #6 piston "seize" onto the cylinder wall ?? If that's true, how was the engine still able to turn ?? {3} have you ever heard of the Dyna Cam engine - especially the one certified by the FAA on a Piper Arrow in the 90's and what do you think of it - I left you the Dyna Cam video I've been linking to other people for a few years now. {my personal opinion on the dyna cam engine is basically what is the GA industry waiting for ??} I'm glad it all turned out well !! Here's the Dyna Cam video kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZS2XoR5jK2ZmJo
