I like watching twins fly. I like day to day flights in different types of weather without pushing it.

Just watched the video you made on 310 ownership, it’s epic. You mentioned getting something with more speed, and your 5 year fix up plan for the songbird. Which is it going to be? Boy, engine overhaul for those 2, what $60-80 grand. Doesn’t seem to be much out there that would really give you a lot more speed without spending a ton money. Also, got my private 4/1973, but took a 33 year sabbatical. Got me a 3rd Class med, and back on the winged horse again. Having lots of fun, but it’s expensive. I’ll be working slowly on a complex endorsement. Right now, with more power, cs prop, landing gear, the plane is faster than me. So, I fly it with an instructor and I will fly a 172 welded gear when by myself.

Excellent, glad to hear that you are back in the air enjoying the experience. As for me, the choice is based on mission and economics. I use the 310 for business and since business is improving, may move to Silver Eagle (210 turbine) or Eclipse. If business really improves, could move to M2 or lesser C425 Conquest. ANd lastly, if remains the same, continue renovation plan for the 310 and enjoy the skies with you from N69846. Stay safe!!

Good ole Birmingham! My beloved hometown. Glad to see it again. I would like to see more of the trip. Especially having to go around weather. Thanks for sharing!!

Yes, we miss you when your 'silent.' While I really liked your music I could not relate to Birmingham being sweet. On our drive thru - about the same time as your flight - we were stuck on I-65 for an hour + because of an accident. Still liked the music & pics at the end. The smile of that young man was SWEET!

Welcome back Art. I was becoming concerned for your health and well being. My 310F is finally flying after a long restoration period and I passed my MEI check ride on the 17th. Perhaps we'll cross paths one day at an airport in the South.

I can see why they would avoid putting jets on 36. I found that out today.

On your final approach, it appears that you were just over the railroad tracks when you stated that you had 2 miles to go. I can tell you that you were not 2 miles from the runway. Apparently, the DME must be measuring the distance from the antenna that's on the other end of the runway and that's how it's measured in every flight simulator I've flown. You covered this distance in about 30 seconds and if you were 2 miles from the threshold, your ground speed would have to be at least 240 knots to cover that distance in 30 seconds. If you were over the railroad tracks, you were 0.85 nautical miles from the runway threshold.

Thanks and I appreciate the feedback. Most of the flights are routine and nothing unusual so didnt post. Thanks again and stay safe!
