@@annierush3223 That's probably their issue. He's not an influencer. He presents himself as a journalist with a press pass, reporting for The Yacht Report. Yet in this case he's carelessly conflating the actions of Damen Shipyard Group with a wholly different independently operated division of Damen Group, Amel / Damen Yachting. Interchangeably using their name and product photos for his visuals when reporting on Damen Shipyard Group, giving the false impression that they are one and the same as the Damen Shipyard Group and party to the lawsuit. When they're not. They are an independently operated division of the parent corporation unrelated to Damen Shipyard Group in their products and management. Except for corporate parentage that they share with another division of the corporation that instigated the lawsuit. That's hack journalism. Details matter. And when contacted about the issue rather than being amenable to making a correction or retraction he blew them off. Hence why he is now persona non grata to Amel / Damen Yachting. That he remains clueless why that is seems unfortunate. Almost willfully disingenuous. He knows what he did and why they've taken issue with his previous reporting on the lawsuit.

As I stated on the Patreon channel.. If Damen/Amels were media savvy they would reach out to The Yacht Report within 24 hours of this posting if not sooner! Proper media training should be mandatory for any company employee or representative that is going to be attending a trade show. The world is super connected and a bad incident can go viral in hours and cause irreparable damage to a business’s brand. If I were Damen I’d offer a sit down interview with The Yacht Report not to discuss “blame” but to state that Daman regrets that the incident happened and then quickly shift the discussion to talk about the proud history of the brand and all the great things the yachting industry can expect from Damen… turn a negative into a positive! Even billionaire brands are not immune to social scrutiny these days and billionaires certainly don’t want to be associated with the negative attention! My 2 Cents! p.s. I would not automatically “sack” the marketing manager if her performance and values are aligned with the companies goals and objective…. this is a teachable moment for her and the rest of the team… if handled properly the unfortunate incident may turnout to be a high point for the company on several levels…. Crisis management, Employee engagement, Management values, Brand Image, etc. To: Rose Damen, (Managing Director Damen Yachts) Don’t miss out on this opportunity to lead by example and show the industry what the company and the Damen family is all about… they don’t occur that often in one’s career !

@nelsonclub77222 ай бұрын
For those who don't know: The Streisand effect is an unintended consequence of attempts to hide, remove, or censor information, where the effort instead increases public awareness of the information. The effect is named for American singer and actress Barbra Streisand, whose attorney attempted in 2003 to suppress the publication of a photograph showing her clifftop residence in Malibu, taken to document coastal erosion in California, inadvertently drawing far greater attention to the previously obscure photograph. The effect exemplifies psychological reactance, in which the attempt to hide information instead makes it more interesting to seek out and propagate

My professional career as a naval architect working with oil company's tanker fleets. I was involved with a 5700 bbl oil spill as the On-Scene Coordinator for the cleanup. I know all about rude and derogatory comments. I have always been impressed with your knowledge, fair reporting, and honesty. If I was the Manager at Damon's rather than asking to leave, I would have asked for a private conversation, off the record, and without a camera. It would have been a good opportunity to discuss the supposedly "bad press." A good opportunity was lost.
@Stetsonhatman2 ай бұрын
That is what a professional would do but I wonder if the person in question was a DEI hire.
@robertlevine21522 ай бұрын
@Stetsonhatman I doubt that. My guess is she was trying to impress someone else. Unfortunately, she picked the wrong time and the wrong person. Hopefully, she can use the feedback to improve her relationship with "the internet (press)." Her employers got poor publicity for the wrong reasons. I believe in DEI provided the most qualified person is hired. My experiences have been positive. I have found there as many poor white male hires as good hires when DEI had to be considered. The company I worked for had a training program on evaluating potential new hires. They taught us not to sell the company to people we were interviewing. Instead, we were taught to assess whether the interviewee would fit into our work environment. Would they be willing to get their hands dirty? Were they willing to make a decision? If the decision turned out to be wrong, would they correct the decision? The ability to recognize errors has nothing to do with DEI. It has to do with the ability of the individual. You don't walk onto the bridge of a ship and start pushing buttons. You don't walk into the engine control room and start flipping switches. While walking down the pier I observed one of our tankers unusually high out of the water. After walking up the gangway I found the loading arms in direct contact with the manifold to the point they were being bent. I walked into the cargo control room and ordered the mate to shut down all transfer operations. My actions averted an accident that would have resulted in an oil spill. Immediately after stopping the transfer operations, I alerted the Chief Mate and the Master and I explained what I did and why. I do not have an officer's license. I am a textbook engineer and not an operating engineer. However, I do have common sense, and I took action according to what I believed to be necessary. I looked for that ability in an employee.

A PR representative probably shouldn’t be creating bad PR in the course of her duties, especially at such an important show. It appears she was serving her ego rather than her company’s interests. She failed miserably at her primary role. A little schmoozing would have been the smarter play. She’s in the wrong position.

@txhookey56082 ай бұрын
A yacht company that hides from it's decisions and sends unaffiliated "agents" to ask you to leave shows an incredible lack of professionalism and decorum. Your status and information you provide warrants at least an invitation to discuss, in person (you clearly both were there even if one chose to try to hide), the situation and would have likely come to an understanding. A request for information to clarify a previous "dictate" that seems more of a point of clarification than an actual error, is totally reasonable. To hide and employ others to do her job is childish and unproductive.

I think you handled the situation very well-they ended up making themselves look unprofessional. One piece of constructive feedback: the part of the video where you address the silly or negative comments isn’t really necessary. We all know it’s part of KZbin life that people post comments we don’t agree with or that don’t make much sense. There’s no need to take time to address them, as your regular viewers don’t need those explanations. I feel for these people the best reaction, is no reaction at all.

About you being asked to leave Amels/Demens coffee shop, this felt like a storm in a tea or coffee cup to me. Doesn't really matter her reason why she asked you to leave. What went wrong? Pardon my language but she cocked up and it happened in front of the camera, and other people in the industry. That was her the mistake result was negativity for her. Particularly when you backed up your case with emails to show she needs to rethink her actions. She only embarrassed herself, and maybe her team. What people forget is the public remember negativity more than positivity. I felt she was unprofessional in her behaviour and untimatly that reflects on the company. She made a mountain out of a small mole hill. Which blew up into her face. I'd like stress this is my own personal view after 20+ years in daily inactions with the public.

In my career in the oil and gas industry I dealt with Damen Shipyard and they were always very arrogant. In my retired state where I was a personal buyer of a, let's say 'decent size' tub (I need crew) many sales and marketing staff think that they are on par with their perspective buyers but in my experience there is little real understanding of the decisions we make when choosing... how can there be when we're in different shoes. Don't get me wrong, there are some fantastic people around but few and far between .. I was very happy to find such a person who had unbelievable passion and knowledge when I ended up custom designing and building.

Amel may did good work showing their Billionaire customes how they treat other people. But to guys like me who are the target customers for their Amel 50 or Amel 60 I can tell it raises suspicion. I am not a Billionaire and I am not a 3 digit Millionaire but treated like you havs been ringing bad vibes for me. They are sellers ,I am a customer and you can call me posh but I like to be treated as a valued customer. You help them to sell their products and deserve also respect. I will bring this up in the next phone call with the Amel sales person. Btw, the market for Amel 50' s is not very large, so they have already an idea who I am when they follow your channel.
