A sensational takeoff video! Yes, that little plane has some muscle in those engines! I will hopefully get an opportunity to ride in one of those one day!

FAA verifies Citation X speed WICHITA, Kan., Oct 31, 2013 - Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, recently concluded all high-speed certification flights with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the new Citation X. This marks the completion of all testing requirements needed to validate the aircraft’s unmatched maximum operating speed of Mach 0.935 (617 mph, 536 ktas), solidifying the Citation X’s position as the fastest civilian aircraft in the world.

Thanks a lot :)

It is accurate now that Concorde is retired. The Gulfstream G650 was certified to exceed the Citation X's top speed, but the new Citation Ten (note the change in spelling) will claim the crown back.

They do have the same engines as the Embraer 145 I believe, the RR 3007C, so for its size it’s basically overpowered.

actually the name is still Citation X for the new model which is equipped with winglets and a Collins avionics package all touch screen. Cessna decided to keep the old name for the new aircraft due to customer overwhelming demand to keep the same name. fyi.

750 is the model designator for the Citation X and the new TEN is 750+. The model 750+ will be serial numbers past #500; this is called a block point change. Both the TEN(750+) and the Latitude(680A) are beautiful aircraft. Just wanted to add that into your info.

Mark Cole As stated by Mark the new "TEN" is the correct name, it is not the X as you stated 'Rick e', also it is a G5000 avionics setup not collins which is the X package. The 'TEN' has Garmins new touch screen version which is their first attempt in the Part 25 category market. Also you can get winglets for all the old 'X' models, it is just a conversion kit.

Last I was briefed it was permanently postponed by Cessna.

Looks like Cessna is calling it the X+ now and it has not been put on hold. 750-0504 was delivered to Accent Stripe company under tail N750GB along with many others. The upgrades the X+ are getting are great additions to an already stout work horse. It does have the G5000 avionics suite and also has fully integrated auto throttles this go around. Looks so good with those winglets too!

Just compare the overall lenght of that aircraft, and the lenght of the engines. No wonder, that she has that outstanding performance values.

Citation's used to be small and dinky, their more top end models are now getting bigger and are closing in on the larger private jets models.

Currently the fastest passenger plane in the world is the Cessna Citation X, which has a top speed of 700mph or Mach 0.9, although it takes only seven passengers.
