Last time I had the shimmy it was the wheel bearings causing it. The time before that it was the torque links. Just goes to show normally the last thing causing the shimmy is the dampener itself.

Shimmy dampers are a giant waste of money. Like you said, bushings and shims. That’s the real problem.

A shim kit will work in many instances. If the problem is not caught soon enough then a new bushing kit is needed.
