I had exactly the same van, same year, same colour, same condition. I had converted the 202ci boat anchor and 4 speed manual to a EFI 5.0 litre V8 engine with a B&M shifter and Turbo 400 transmission. Fastest van in SA!!

Stunning looking van .Good choice to keep it stock , have never seen anyone’s restyle improve it, even the factory face lift spoilt it in my opinion.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah they are becoming rarer so it was important to keep it looking close to original. The only changes to the body are the bumpers removed (and different wheels)

What a great looking van. thank you for showing it to us. Gives me hope for our 1979 CF we bought new in Sydney. Brought it back to NZ in 1991 and it had been sitting idle on our driveway from 1999 to 2021 when I decided to get it going again. It has a stock Holden 6 cylinder 173 'Red Motor' kzbin.info/www/bejne/nKWUq56qe9isb9U

Hi mate I might be checking out a 77 cf same as this very shortly for 9k it has red 202 6 in it but what does it take to put the 3.8v6 in it?? Does it simply bolt in or would I have to cut and change few things
@allnoid14 жыл бұрын
Hi there, yeah there is a bit involved but depending on your skill level will depend on how easy it is. There is a company that can provide a kit that includes mounts wiring and templates for cutting the floor and making a new engine cover etc. There kit positions the engine differently to this one and there are pro's ans cons for either. I used their sump but then fabricated the rest. This included adapting the Commodore radiator to fit, fabricating engine mounts then using the Commodore rubber mounts. I had an aluminum fuel tank made to fit the Commodore fuel pump and fuel sender unit so the gauges all matched and I could use the Commodore speedo as well. You will also need to get the drive shaft shortened Happy to answer more questions if you have any. Cheers

@@allnoid1 cheers for the info, I'm not very mechanically minded at all hahaha so I'd prob ask a friend or a shop to do it if I decided to go ahead and buy it. I have a mate that's good at welding and fabrication work he just built a vn Commodore with huge turbo v8 he done all the pipe work and welding himself so that could save me some cash.
