I think it is for the non deferral people who would have paid anyways to have a seat. Everyone who just got results back for December should have a crack at May, and just because February got deferred doesn't mean they shouldn't get a seat.

For those that feel like they aren't ready & want to defer to July.. You should still go for February. Best case scenario, you pass > L2 in August. If you fail, L1 > August. If you pass on your 2nd attempt in August, you're gunning for L2 in Feb. By going the February route you have more to gain than lose; because if you do fail, at least you now have first hand experience writing the real exam & know what to expect for August. If you go for July, you have more to lose than gain; if you fail in July, you're rewriting in Feb.. weigh out the pros & cons.

Hi Prof. Do you think the L1 exam in Toronto will take place in Feb? It looks like the current lockdown order will last until Feb 11 which is 1 day after the the Feb 10 deadline to reschedule exam. 160 actual, 20 test, yes. I put the video private. I compared CTT and IRT since CBT makes IRT possible. I was not clear that this is an evolution and not the case for the next year. So rather than have confusion, I just removed it.

I have no choice but to cancel it cause the country's political situation is not stable, due to military coup d'etat in Myanmar. Writing the exam is the least I could think about. So will it they refund this time or only deferral is available ? Also I haven't received mail yet.

Hey Mark, first of all I love your content and appreciate you putting the time in to make all of these videos. I have a quick question for you. As an individual who wants to learn the CFA material for purely the development of knowledge and financial literacy/application rather than obtaining the charter for leverage in my career, would you recommend any other material to purchase for studying other than either your courses/Kaplan text books for the L2-3 material? For some background, I have recently passed L1, and without much more detail i have decided to not pursue the CFA designation. I do however thoroughly enjoy the education and studying (minus ethics and some FRA, lol) and I am looking to continue the education on my own time.

Jared Benoit yeah definitely! When I started studying for level one, the end goal was to learn the material, not really get the letters. I’m in a pretty lucky situation where current and future job security/income is not an issue and I would not need the letters to progress my career. What drew me to the CFA was the benefits that the education would provide in my approach/understanding of finance as a whole, rather than the career benefits of having the letters. I currently see the freedom of studying on my own time and using the gained hours (from not studying certain material that isn’t as directly applicable to real time scenarios that I deal with on a day to day basis I.e ethics, etc.) to read/study in other areas provides as a more efficient use of my time!

Because of uncertainty in our place due to COVID, I have deferred my CFA L1 exam scheduled in February 2021 window to a future exam window. even though there are places available in May 2021 exam window in my chosen centre, I could not schedule my exam with my deferral. A L2 exam will be held in November. But there should be a 6-month gap between any two exams!

Registering is a 2 part process. Part 1. - select your window. Part 2, select your Center and date. You can do part 1 without doing part 2 right away.

Only for level 3. We will introduce a Level 2 option next year, but I don't see offering Level 1 exams outside a subscription for some time.

Just an FYI as I seen this same question being asked by a few below - On the CFA website, there is an option to choose May 2021, but when you actually click into it and go to register, it brings you to a new page and the May option is not available, so yeah, May 2021 Lvl 1 does not appear available for anyone anymore
