Travis Hunter is unbelievable. He's better at football than most people are in their fantasies about being a football player. That interception on the screen pass was one of the most amazing I've ever seen, he covered like 12 yards from a standstill and managed to time it so perfectly that he caught the ball. I'm a Buffs fan, but still not sold that Shadeur is NFL ready. He looks better this year than last, but he still holds the ball too long and takes too long to read the D and go through his progressions. He'll get sacked a lot in the pros, just like he does in college. And for the pros, his arm strength is mid at best. He'll play at the next level, I just don't have huge expectations.

@@garyco766 I think your right about him extending plays too much taking too unnecessary sacks and the leagues defenses are way more quicker and decisive so you have to make a decision in 2 secs not 10 seconds which means he has to speed up his timing. Part of the reason you don't see much of that now is the long wr releases the Buffs use. But at the next level his O line will be WAY BETTER with more weapons. If you look at his body of work, he shown NFL level accuracy and efficiency. He may not possess the arm strength of a patrick mahomes, a josh allen, or a Matthew Stafford but he has good touch! He could switch through his progressions faster (timing) and utilize tactics like cheating his head and eyes to throw off the defense but he has really good mechanics and can adapt his arm to make creative throws. Plus I've seen him make all the throws deep, over the middle, outside the hashes, seam throws, tight windows, bullets, Back shoulder fades, throws side arm, throws with perfect timing and very accurate. Give him a run game, or a o-ine and if he can maintain discipline not throwing interceptions he could be a problem. Look at Dak Prescott's production now and his passing ability in college

they still need some pieces and practice on defense, but this was by far the best game I've seen them play. They are still reliant on the 1 one of 1 abilities of Travis Hunter though. The issue is that eventually teams just start throwing away from him, so their can't be one CB who they can just pick on. Also the tackling still needs work, especially in the secondary. Some real poor technique there, one of those CBs just stands still and bends over at the waist while looking at the ground when he tries to tackle. He doesn't move into the tackle and doesn't bend his knees at all, he's also not even looking at the person he's trying to tackle. It's all bad. That being said, there was still a whole lot more positives I saw in this game than negatives. But they are not quite there. The truly dominant teams don't require their superstars to be amazing on basically every single down/rep. Ideally they can play within themselves and only need to pull something amazing out maybe 4-5 times a game. It's more predictable, consistent and doesn't put your superstars at risk so much. It also means that even if they have a bad game, the team can still function and everything doesn't just fall apart. If the rest of the team can just be a 7/10 without Sanders and Hunter in all phases. Then CU would be a serious force. But regardless, the way they play football right now is easily some of, if not the most entertaining football to watch every week.

@@wtcher2060 fair bit of bad playcalling as well, specifically in the run game. They kept trying to run outside zone and UCF was shutting it down all game. Colorado's RB just isn't fast enough to be a real threat to beat the defense to the edge and turn the corner. its the threat of that which is what's supposed to force the defense to overcommit to the outside and that's what then opens up the cutback lanes. without that threat, the UCF LBs/defense can just force the RB to stretch the run out, stay disciplined and prevent any cutback lanes. eventually the RB will just run out of space. running outside zone with as weak of an offensive line as Colorado has, is just a bad idea. It requires really skilled agile o-linemen, really precise execution, and everyone understanding the rules for their blocking assignments. They need to do more power runs and less gap scheme stuff, they just don't have the talent up front. they've definitely improved on the o-line, especially in pass protection. but gap scheme runs are pretty tricky and require a lot of attention to detail from blockers, the RB, and in how they are coached/installed. if they insist on doing zone runs, they should stick to more downhill runs like inside zone and maybe off-tackle, and for outside runs try doing counters, or jet sweeps with misdirections off of them instead. the RB is running the outside zone too slow and stays behind his o-line while just looking for a cutback lane and nothing else. he's waiting for the defense to give him one but he hasn't done anything that would make them do that. he's way more of a straight downhill/power RB. but they are trying to use him like he's James Cook or Kenneth Gainwell, a fast agile elusive RB. I get that they are using him like that because the offense is designed more around Shedur and their WRs/pass game. that being said, I think they can still design/call run plays that work with their offensive scheme and also put their RB in a much better position to succeed. they could probably find some good stuff from watching the Ravens run game last season (regular season) as well as the Cardinals both this season and last season. Maybe a few things from the Eagles this season as well (especially for shotgun runs). I think they could do a whole lot of stuff from the Pistol. its a super versatile formation and fits with their team comp also.

They look improved everywhere they needed to improve. Supposedly, it takes longer for the O-line to gel that any other part of the team, and all 5 starters are new this year... but I think they're finally starting to gel. The backs look pretty good, and the defense looks better. There is a legit chance to go 8-4 this year if we keep playing like that!
