9:24 Black had winning position 1...Ne1 2. b7 f1=Q+ 3.Kc5 Weird that he missed the most important idea to block opponent rook path to f1 square and then promote with check . White even did not have any checks to stop it. Having queen black can take white pawn after series of checks and even though knight is probably lost while doing it, queen vs rook endgame is still good chance to win it, especially on GM level .

It happens that it is easier to see and analyze it from the outside... without a clock harassing you... and it is not uncommon for a GM to make mistakes because they are human

Check 10:33 too, knight blocks the rook to help promote queen

Sorry, but I must admit to some qualms concerning Mr Z's OTB mannerisms in recent games. I begrudge no one their unique behavioral identity... some of us are just born that way. And of course Mr Z is one of the most formidable talents to walk through the door. But - Z is literally waving his hands in Mr H's face as he contemplates moves. And with his wings extended over the board he comes close to physical interference. I am certainly no FIDE arbiter, and I can't remember anything comparable in all my past observation of chess... but is it acceptable to wave your hands in the opponents face while they're contemplating moves? And notwithstanding tolerance and understanding, I can't help wonder... does he do it deliberately, for advantage?

It's clear he doesnt do it on purpose, he just can't control his nerves , Even from the opening he has those gestures . But ,yes is a disadvantage for the oponent.

@@absolutedave3400 But as you notice… “from the beginning of games.” Could it possibly attribute to nerves, in an opening against Pinkamena? I can understand and accept the fact he can’t control his appendages, but I believe that he should. Over the board a neutral demeanor should be maintained. A player unable to thus behave shouldn’t be barred, but on my scorecard, all Zhitnikov’s victories “carry an asterisk” - for Unsportsmanlike Gesticulation.
@JorgeHeidenreich

@@gerry4b Do you want to exclude Zhitnicov from chess because of his involuntary nervous movements? this is called discrimination...and chess does not exclude or discriminate against anyone for any disability, much less someone who finds it impossible to control their nervous movements. Also your opponents shouldn't be affected at all by this, they just have to keep their focus on the board.
@gerry4b
@gerry4b Жыл бұрын
“A player unable to thus behave shouldn’t be barred” The exact opposite of your accusation. Perhaps a lack of discrimination on your part? Did you even read my comment? And where would you draw the line on comportment? Should Snareman be allowed to stand at his position dancing Samba while Fatality plots strategy? He’s a drummer. And Mr Z is who he is. I simply take that into consideration of his victories.
