A decent amount, I think they will win against Tennessee tho
@jbaker743912 күн бұрын
Quite a bit. But Tennessees offense is not great and Georgia is at home. So should be ok in this game. There’s a weird scenario forming where a 2 loss SEC team could get into the SEC championship and then lose and have 3 losses and they most likely would miss playoffs. I love to see those wild moves. And before someone says you can’t punish them for losing conference championship. The problem is a lot of the 2 loss SEC teams have a bad loss already. You have to pay for those earlier losses especially if other teams have 0 losses, 1 loss.

And then Miami has the several close games against bad teams and a loss to Georgia tech while SMU only has two close games, one against Duke who is decent and the other in week 1 to Nevada which is bad but their loss was by 3 to BYU who is a top 6 team according to them. It makes no sense at all. @GoatedAtNFS12 күн бұрын
everyone saying the Big-10 is running the tables in the rankings, that is true but the 5th best team in that conference has 4 losses. as long as nobody else folds they’ll have 4 teams, but like always, they’re a top heavy conference the SEC seems more balanced or more unpredictable as I’d say but the whole 10-2 tiebreaker scenario might be coming to life looking at the Wednesday injury reports. the ACC will only get SMU in assuming Miami doesn’t fold or choke anymore games and the Big-12 will only get one more team in. Notre Dame just needs to hope NIU doesn’t lose anymore games and they beat Army

@jbaker743912 күн бұрын
@Edward_USMC13 Nah. The single conference is much different than the east and west. And the NIL and Transfer windows you can see SEC teams do not have the depth they used to which is creating these losses and up and downs you see in performance. There are no consistent teams in SEC and they all have various weaknesses no “complete” teams. In the past, even recently, a MJ SEC team would dominate their schedule and go undefeated or have only 1 loss and win the SEC championship game.

I don’t mind a few noon games but when you have marquee match ups like Ohio State going to Penn State it needs to be a prime time slot. I know it’s the way the contract is structured with the Big Ten but it needs to be addressed in the off season. The fans, both rational and toxic, have expressed displeasure in the current situation. It doesn’t matter what time slot Ohio State is in they will bring the viewership.

In fairness with BYU having the "worst" game of the season...it was a rivalry game, maybe the most bitter rivalry in the country--records do not matter in rivalry games. BYU had not won a game in that stadium since 2006. It was a historical win. I think that is what the committee is seeing.

I think there’s an element of 4 team playoff criteria being used this year. 2 losses was disqualifying in the past and committee rankings would roughly follow records w/ a couple exceptions for egregiously hard or easy schedules (e.g. 2017 auburn at #2 and wisco at #4). but it was pretty difficult to find a situation where a 2 loss team looked unequivocally better than a 1 loss team or had a significantly better resume. now with the 12 team playoff and realignment, schedules are much more difficult, and it’s a lot easier to find separation between record and resume. but i think 1 loss teams w/ weak resumes being inflated (miami, psu) and undefeateds staying in the mix for the top 4 (byu, indiana) while 2 loss teams w/ tough schedules sit below (sec logjam) suggests the committee is still operating like they have in the past. and maybe this a good thing, maybe miami shouldn’t be punished for eeking out wins three or four times bc they did end up WINNING and their 1 loss looks better than uga/ole miss/bama’s 2 losses. not my opinion personally, bc it discourages scheduling tough games, but interesting to think about. also interesting is what would happen if we still had a 4 team playoff. i doubt we have the same b10 logjam at the top. probably oregon, osu, texas, indiana, byu/tennessee, penn state w/ the osu-indiana losee falling out and then the b10 cg loser falling to 4 probably. so pretty similar bc of what I just said but I think it’s harder to justify putting a team in a 4 team playoff without a big win than it is to put them around 4/5 in a 12 team playoff. also worth wondering if it’s worth even considering these 2 loss sec teams in the playoff discussion. we wouldn’t in the 4 team playoff. maybe we shouldn’t. food for thought

To the people complaining about PSU. Since 2022 they are 29-6 with a rose bowl win.... their losses are 3 to top 5 OSU 2 to top 5 Michigan (one won the natty) and top ten Ole Miss in the peach bowl. So the last two seasons PSU has ten wins and are 1-1 in BCS bowl games. Sure they don't beat OSU/Michigan, but a lot of teams lose to those teams. How many teams can say they have 29 wins in 2+ seasons? Sure they have no big wins, but they have no bad losses either....

I can see Indiana remaining in the playoff at 11-1 since the L would presumably be to a team that is in the top 2. BYU, on the other hand, would be losing to a team on the outside. You are drawing the right conclusion. I have no idea how Indiana is ranked 5 with their schedule. If Indiana is #5, then Army should be ranked higher. It's not like the B1G Cupcake Division schedule of Indiana to-date is objectively THAT MUCH BETTER than the Army schedule has been (not that Army's is all that). We'll see how both of them do against Ohio State & Notre Dame. That will tell us a lot about both of those undefeated teams. Another thought: It is unclear how BYU, with two top 25 wins, is behind Indiana. I'm not sure that either should be ranked where they are but it seems weird that -- when comparing undefeated teams -- the committee has put Indiana, BYU and Army where they are. An objective comparison of their wins should put into question all of the rankings. Finally, I have no problem with Indiana and BYU being in the top 10. I think Army and BYU should be higher, if using Indiana as a reference point.
