Just seen the whole thing is free to previous owners and that is absolutely fantastic from Just Flight. I remember trying to spin the v1 and having an OMG WTF moment before spearing into the deck. I was always stalling and spinning into the ground in my Hawk T1 in MSFS, this is a whole different aircraft as far as the flight modeling. It is marvelous and I love it. In MSFS if I hit 150 knots while flying toward the airport it would stall, drop a wing, and I would impact the ground, in MSFS 2024 I have full control at lower speeds. This is my favorite aircraft for Jaw dropping VR flights. My favorite route is out of Lossiemouth, along the coast to Inverness at FL100 then a transition to low level to fly down Loch Ness, low enough to say hello to the monster. Then I route to the wet coast, weaving through the glens, before heading up to the north of Scotland following the coast along to Wick. Then a climb to 8000ft over the Moray Firth to catch my breath, sort myself and the aircraft out and land back at Lossie. Grinning all the way.

True story: Many years ago, I worked for a management consultancy - one of our clients was BAE Systems in Brough, UK. We spent some time up their, working with them on site. Of course, in the evenings, much time was spent down the pub where beer was drunk and stories were told.... one was that they were trying to get Saudi Arabia to buy the Hawk. They wanted to buy, but only if one condition was met - the aircraft must have wingtip mounted Sidewinders! Not for any operational or training purpose, but just because they thought it would "look cool"! And they did just that! Splendid presentation as ever - many thanks!

Take care in what seems to be a very rough winter for you all over there.
@BarryFlo582 күн бұрын
I did most of my flight training at Pembrey airport and finished up at Redhill but while training at Pembrey, we would have lunch outside and watch the fast jets coming in and doing their dive down to the range and we used to say to each other, he's married, he's not, just based on how steep and low their attack was before pulling back and climbing out. They always came from the North unless they were going to Pendine and they would then approach from along the coast and you would always have a military helicopter going around the coast to make sure no boats came into the area. I was once asked by the tower to expedite my landing as a fast jet was coming in for a comfort break but being in a helicopter I advised that I would just move over to the grass and hover to wait for the runway to clear and turned to watch the jet landing. As he was going past on the runway I pulled on the PTT and made the sound of a machine gun pretending to shoot him, not realising that in my excitement I had pressed the PTT all the way in instead of just the first click to talk to my instructor and over the radio came a laugh from the jet pilot who replied, you missed, my turn now. I did my solo x country down to Haverfordwest and on the way back to Pembrey, I contacted the range and was told that there was fast jets on the way into the range and so would have to either land in a field or go somewhere else but I told him that if I did this my solo x country flight would be cancelled and I would have to do it all again. He was kind and allowed me to proceed buy not to go above 200 foot within the range boundary which was a relief.

When you talked to ATC it was Mike, when you wanted fuel, it was Mike that turned up in his fire suit and when you wanted food, you guessed it, it was Mike who I believe is no longer with us. Just completed a quick trip and for the life of me I couldn't get it to spin. It would just sit there - nose up a few degrees, wings perfectly level whilst slowly losing height. It's a hell of lot more stable (no more the inclination to dive for the ground on approach) but it doesn't 'feel' sufficiently responsive with both roll and pitch a touch sluggish. It's much easier to fly than its first incarnation.
@cgaviator3 күн бұрын
If anything it is a little sluggish. What speed are you trying to spin at? 150kt full back stick and full rudder should do it
@ChrisHunt-q1z2 күн бұрын
Hi Chris, speed at 110Kn, full back stick (and trim), full rudder input. I get an initial roll a steep nose down but if I take my hands off the stick it stops rolling and would continue more or less straight down without further input. As I said - easier to fly (and usable now as a general hack) but I think JF have neutered the poor old thing. By the way, I find it takes about 40% power to get moving, and even lightly loaded it takes a long run up to get off the deck. Having spent 4 years at Warton I know where I should airborne.

20:05 Is there a different procedure you would follow in case there is AA or flak?
@cgaviator5 күн бұрын
Yup… don’t fly a Hawk against AAA! 😅 But with front line aircraft, using much higher drops or a pop up attack may be the way to go. Depends on precision capability of the jet and weapon.

I got the Iris PC-21 after watching your video. Currently flying around the World, around the continents. Started in Gib, then Timbuktu, Abidjan. Now heading to Lagos... Not the quickest trainer... maybe this is worth getting. Do you recommend any other jet trainers with a glass cockpit?
