@RafaelTrocatti I think rather than frustration there was a sense of, "Welp, I think I know where this one is gunna go". I'm new and I'm already starting to see a pattern with CGB. He either has little understand of what the group considers a good power level, or he understands where they're at and he knowingly just decides to make his decks way stronger as sort of a power trip of "look how good I am." CGB has become one of the few players that if I see them I just won't watch the video from any channel. And I've only seen him in 4 games (in which he handedly stomped the opponents in each)

I think the CEDH comments here are a bit over the top, it was a fast mana opener with the interaction being luckliy for CGB, wheeled away. Mindslaver recursion is funny more than anything, definitely not overpowered. It s interesting though, people dont bat an eye at a vito, exquisite blood in a game which is a turn 5 win no ramp for example, but recurring a mindslaver is "cedh" lol. A farewell or austere command etc, or anything like a drannith etc, karn , ouphe would have nerfed him. It was just reallly a top tier opening hand, with everyone else having an average opener with not enough interaction in their hands, it happens. Everyone took it in stride, shows that they have a cool playgroup, and shuffle up on to the next game.
@tau.r.u9 ай бұрын
Exactly. It happens. The claims of CEDH mostly show that people have a hard time discerning between high power casual, which this is, and actual CEDH. That Lara Croft deck wouldn't stand a chance in a regular CEDH pod. Maybe win the occasional game because the other decks tired each other out, but even then it would be rather unlikely.

I want to go to bat for CGB here, seeing all the hate in the comments: while the game was definitely a stomp because of that crazy opener, I don't think his deck was that much stronger than anyone else's. From what I could tell, everyone at the table is running Fast Mana, they just didn't draw a crazy opener, so it seemed one sided. Hell, Blake is playing Derevi, a famous cEDH stax commander (though in a memey way to uptap his Millennium Calender). There was just as much chance for anyone else at the table to draw something like Sol Ring + Mana Crypt + a Tutor Spell for windfall. We know that Blake was also running many tutors in order to get access to his Millenium Calender, and Xyris is specifically built to wheel, as well! Any one of them could've run away with this game if they'd drawn similarly! So, please take it easy on CGB: I highly doubt he built the deck with pubstomping in mind, he just draw a Magical Christmas Land hand, and wouldn't you also keep a hand like that? That being said, this might be a good case study for whether the cast should collectively use Fast Mana in their decks. It can lead to incredibly swingy games, and with the amount of interaction that the crew usually seems to be running, I don't know if the table is ready to handle those kinds of explosive starts. Normally, you'd see people running Force of Will and Mindbreak Trap to handle that kind of speed, and I don't know if that's the kind of arms race CGB and the Crew are looking to engage in.
