I love how eccentric Jeff Buckley is. You can clearly tell he was a true artist by his body language. Notice how he talks to himself, has nervous ticks, and looks around. To me that shows how wrapped up in his music he was. Truly a great artist.

@@sarcasticallyrearranged not really, you are just have not seen the pattern that every great in any area has. Seriously almost every person who's contributions to anything that are in the history books has things that people think are not normal, habits, lifestyle.

@@gerardo.b3026 The problem is how people treat the eccentric artist who doesn't hit it big. And many of those are 10x's as brilliant as the artists who have "made it". If they're not rich or famous they're just looked at as weirdos or freaks. I'm sure Buckley would be looked at like a total goon if he didn't become a legend.

It is so sad to hear him say that he'll probably give his best when he's 47 years old. I'm almost 45 and I was born in 1966 also. I wish he had more time to give us what he thought was his best, but I can't hardly imagine what that would be. The recordings he left with us are so beautiful already. I appreciate the gift he left for us. Thanks Jeff Buckley.

By watching this interview, sad as it is, he wasn't meant to live long. His soul, the aura and intensity that I sense, it's on an entirely different wavelength; he was just too damn pure for this world. This thing I notice among all my favorite dead musicians is the same. I can't describe it right, but Jeff Buckley, Elliott Smith, Kurt Cobain, and others I can't presently think of, I hope you all have found your peace. ❤

gavinbeansmama awww thank you. it can sometimes make things difficult... like listening to music that i hear with my soul, when i am around other people... it sometimes ends in a whisper such as "ummm is she autistic?" or something along those lines, haha. there are certain albums i KNOW not to try and drive to... because a sort of spastic trance happens, which is dangerous on the road... just certain things sometimes. but it's okay, hearing the music or even listening to a loved one's voice so intently more than makes up for any of that stuff.

I think he was scared to release a new album, in fear of how harshly the media can turn someone's life completely around. Going from angelic like Grace, to possibly the worst review ever. He was super sensitive and always wanted to be completely understood through his words. I'm the exact same way.. And the anxiety it brings along is awful. He's resting peacefully now, with his legacy left as grace.

+mark ferlisi First time I've ever seen an interview by Jeff Buckley---I love the remarkable Grace, and his other compilation Sketches From My Sweetheart The Drunk---it has such a range of different tunes on there--it's worth getting just for all that alone. He definitely seemed odd and nervous here, but that's what make this such an interesting interview---it's not your typical Q&A, which is refreshing. He also did that great transcendent version of a Leonard Cohen song "Hallelujah" which is by itself worth getting Grace for (that and the incredible title track,which I used to play to death because I loved it so much.

+rainmaker690 I completely agree. It's almost poetic, how he handles himself. I always work on not worrying so much, and nothing eases my mind more, than Jeff Buckley. It's ironic, but the music of an odd/nervous guy, is what helps everyone else relax. I know what you mean, nobody covers a song quite like Buckley.

I read a review of Grace today that started off with the line "Jeff Buckley was many things but humble wasn't one of them". Where did the writer get that from? Watching this interview he seems very humble and unpretentious. I've heard the same things said about Bob Dylan and Billy Corgan, and from what I've seen it's just not true, they all seem like great people.
@peaceloveaitana

Bob Dylan is an asshole, while being interviewed. In real life, outside of the media, I'm sure he's a normal, awesome person. I just think that he likes messing with the reporter and doesn't feel like he has to answer any of their questions. I know that reporters are "bloodsuckers" for a lot of musicians, but they're still people doing their job and it's honestly disrespectful, when they ask an honest question and he gives them these bullshit answers. Sorry if it seems I'm attacking you, I'm not, I'm just ranting.
@joshuaWEC
@joshuaWEC 10 жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree. I've watched just about every Bob Dylan interview there is on KZbin, and I wouldn't say he was being an asshole. It's true that they are people doing their job, but from what I've seen, most of their questions are pretty awful and undeserving of a serious response. Some of the reporters are very disrespectful as well. Dylan has made it quite clear that he never saw himself as some "savior of the people" or "voice of the generation", so it's pretty rude for most of the reporters to spend their whole interview asking him about that. No prob, it was a respectful reply, and ranting feels great.

I believe he was uncompromising in regards to his sentiment/convictions. Some people my may regard that as lofty; hence "his lack of humility". I definitely don't believe that to be the case. In fact, it's his candor- his unblemished interpretation of the world- that (in my eyes) makes him all the more genuine/sympathetic.

Like Bob would say "it's people's games that you got to dodge..", most people just don't like someone who is different and strong-minded about their ways. It's bad ego, jealousy..."who does this guy thinks he is" kind of thing.

I think because of the way he used his voice, people must have thought he was cocky, like in Mojo Pin where he does that one scream and then does some vocal improvisation. But I personally don't believe he was doing this. It seems like he was just singing in the way he felt the song called for. People are just envious dicks and often feel threatened by musical talent for some reason, so they call it "pretentious." I'm not saying music can't be pretentious, but the term is definitely overused to put down some really great performers/songwriters. As for Billy Corgan, he seems to talk shit about others quite often and pump himself up all the time. I can totally see why someone would think he's not humble.

man! I'd have love to see Jeff as a dad, and family man, he should have had at least one kid before passing, those genes should be around... in someone I don't know why but it pisses me off that there isn't someone who has Jeff genes

Brenda Luna There are people out there with similar genes today. I've got the same hairline as Jeff, a similar speaking voice and his wolf gnashers. There's probably a few more walking around as well.
