CCS Pressing "helped" me move my CGC 9.6 NYX #3 into a lovely CGC 9.0. The main culprit being finger bends and a new spine tick. I believe CCS is the problem here and I'll be looking for a new way to press my books. Sadly I have around 50 sitting in their backlog.

Same thing happened to me. I sent in a Ms Marvel #18 9.2 for pressing and it came back 8.5 with new spine ticks and finger bends. I also think CGC has been very harsh and inconsistent in grading.

I truly believe that the grader you got is a viewer of your channel, saw all your cgc gripe videos Over the year and THEN graded your books , maybe a month or two ago. Just a hunch.

*_An undervalued tool is a stereo microscope. It might seem a bit overkill, but if you had one, would you not use it? I do not believe CGC does occasionally use a microscope to go over books when i doubt. I'm sure I have seen an image of "a book being magnified and shown on a large screen", so one could also use a good camera and a 4K TV. I just mention stereo microscopes because they can be picked up for free or cheap._*

I Now use Keyngdom Comics for my pressing out of Texas and have sent 5 different groups of books to CBCS. Awaiting 2 Orders of 10 to return this March. I'm at a loss for words. Sorry about your experience at CGC/CCS. I just sent 39 books for grading. I have my own press, humidity tank etc. I can take my time since I'm just selling my own books. I was really happy with how they looked when I sent them, but your experience scared the hell out of me! I did send 5 legend of zelda comics that I believed to be all 9.8's; 4 were & 1 looked a lot different when it came back with a corner crunch & a 9.2. I'm not sure I like the trend of pro grading. Maybe I'll sell some of my good stuff raw. If the buyer doesn't like the asking price, they don't have to buy it. Good luck in the future, you deserve it!

I never opened that book , it was perfect. Not only that but the corner was cracked. I will not use the CGC again.

The best way to get annotation adjustments for books; first apps, cameos, etc is to post in the specific section on their forums. You have to have proof, consensus, and a convincing argument but you can make changes.

I have that Green Lantern 201 in newsstand I bought as a kid in Okinawa, Japan. And yes, it has the Mark Jewelers inside. I need to get it grade, but hopefully not by the grader you got!

The fact they ignored your pre-screen request on multiple books, one of them even getting a 9.0 and a custom label, is surely enough to get some sort of reimbursement from CGC, right? And it’s crazy how many of your books came back damaged. This is my exact fear against sending books in. These videos were hard to watch, sorry man

Turned in some books for my son. Most came back okay but one came back a 6.5 for stains. That was one never read and looked like a possible 9.9. Unfortunately there is no stain on the outside and no pics of a stain on an inside page so unless we unslab it we will never know.

While not a result of CCS, I just got my signed and graded Joker 2 1-in-50 Trevor Hairsine variant, that I paid $200 for, variant back from CGC with damage that most definitely was not there when I got it signed and submitted through the comic shop. It was probably 9.6 or a 9.8...until a centimeter long, minutely color breaking crease on the corner magically appeared. Seeing as it is a cardstock cover, I have my doubts that a pressing would flatten it out.

Even at a 9.0 NM98 is a $500 book. Why wouldn't you want it graded no matter what? Also, I assume you've contacted CGC relative to damage / non pressed books / graded blow prescreen / no graders notes? Any info?

Won't deal with CGC anymore. They're grading blows and the damage that was happening on my books was staggering. Re submitted a few books at some of my books went from a 9.2 to a 9.8. It's like They're not even trying. Time to fire the lot and get some people who know what They're doing.

At this point, what "service" are you receiving versus what you are receiving? I understand potential damage when I'm their care, but they ignored your grade screen standard, missed a custom label and possibly have you lower grades with no notes as to why. Does this sound like the industry leader or a complacent machine?

30 year collector here… I just finished watching the two part video of this CGC submission and it’s completely changed my mind on submitting my books for the first time… and I just can’t risk my high grade copies of Hulk 181 or GSX 1, let alone minor Bronze keys or cool Modern books I’d like graded. What a shame. Looks like my beloved collection will remain as raw copies for the foreseeable future.

Still waiting for my very 1st order from back in late May that CCS was going to clean and press. I've had multiple orders come back since with a couple that CCS worked. My results on those were all positive, especially the one I had a Pre-Screen set to 9.8 - 18 of 25 got the 9.8 including Watchmen #2 & #3.

I sent two of my books back to CGC because they skipped pressing. I was charged for pressing too, so I wasn't having any of it. I called CGC and talked to a rep, and she helped me get the ball rolling on sending my books back to CSS.

Hey James,yes. Wrath is underrated. The showrunners of The Batman 2004 animated series LOVE their obscure Batman characters. And they used Wrath in one of the episodes. I believe he appeared in season 5 of the show.

Sorry for this part 2 clunker. I submitted for CCS pressing since it’s supposed to be a one-stop shop, but after seeing your results, I’m seriously regretting it. What’s more, their turnaround time just for pressing is 229 business days. 🤯 I thought no problem I can wait. But then I found out my LCS does pressing. They pressed and cleaned in two weeks and I was very happy with their results. Fingers crossed for CCS.

You may consider pressing the books at a presser and NOT CCS as I do not know how they press books in their current re-organization. Also I heard rumer that the George Perez signing has been postponed indefinitely....

Those are some tough breaks man, sorry you're having to deal with that. Do you think that sending larger submissions could lead to more potential issues like what you are having? Largest I've ever sent it is 11 at one time, but I am a novice at graded books. On another note, I have the 1st Vigilante and my son has the 1st Nightwing and we were able to get them in for the last George Perez signing. We were super stoked to get those back, 9.4 and 8.5 respectively.

Agree with you on CCS. I swear some of my books come back looking like no one touched them. As for CBCS I think their pressing is rather good. I sent in an ASM 4 CBCS 4.0 and they removed the spine roll and turned it into a 5.5. As it stands though, I have a few books getting pressed by a 3rd party before being sent to CGC.

My last submission to (my 3rd) CGC, which was pre-Covid, consisted of over 100 books, to be prescreened either 9.6 or 9.8 (separated into 2 groups) many of these were duplicates. I found that either the same book would come back 9.6 or 9.8 or none would. i can only imagine how it has changed the last 2 years. not much experience with pressing (only 3 books). i plan to drop off a pretty large lot at the Philly Sports Card show coming up in March, so we will see how that goes.

CBCS grading seems to be less strict than CGC. I have seen a few unboxings with 9.9 and 10s which you extremely rarely see with CGC.

Recommend you either learn to press yourself (not hard) or find a local presser where you can inspect the results yourself before sending in. Seems that's where all your issues with this past sub came from.

Grader notes are now free for all to view! What a bargain CGC! Your CCS comments have me worried. I just sent five Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man #1 and selected CCS pressing for the 1st time ever. The books had printer roller defects and I didn't want to mess the books up doing it myself. There was only 1 book that had one tiny color breaking tick (1/16") on the edge of spine and the rest were flawless straight out of the factory sealed white bags. I am dreading what I get back now.

This is very sad. I just received a few books back from CGC and I feel the same way you do. While I did not have any pressed, there was a ridiculous spine tick (huge) on one of my books and it just was not there when I sent them - I never would have sent it with that much of a defect. Also, NO GRADER'S NOTES. Why? They made a big deal about free grader's notes with paid memberships and now they're not giving grader's notes. I don't get it. Quality is taking a dive.

Im pending a shipment of three books…all were equal condition when sent to CCS over a year ago…I got two 9.4 and a freak 8.5 with creases and foreign substance on book? Waiting on it to show up…but this wasnt my book’s condition when I sent it in…From what I have heard…I have no recourse for whatever ccs did with that book while in their possession. And that sucks…I suspect they just have new graders who have been told to grade harshly…and if you really get cynical…maybe they know alot of us will crack and resubmit. I still think CCS is damaging books.

I literally just packed up 10 books to send to CGC for the first time right before watching your video. I've been submitting for years but always waited for CGC to be at a con. Unfortunately cons can't be an option anymore for me (At least for another year). Your results presented me from pulling the trigger on half of them. The extreme majority of my copper/modern books are 9.8 (I sell the ones that don't make the cut). When I buy books I think about grading, I go through them like Monk inspecting them. Paying higher prices, waiting longer, and having them returned potentially damaged wouldn't put in the happiest of moods either. Figure it may be better to hold off and wait a little till things (Hopefully) get more stable. As for this other half I'm grading, they're Star Wars Books. The prices on these first appearances of minor characters that have yet to make it to the screen are insanely high right now. Normally I dont flip, but if people want to burn their money like that I might as well cash in.

Remember, it's not just 1 grader that messed up....every book is supposed to be seen by 3 graders....2 graders and 1 finalizer. This means 3 graders messed up or the books were only graded by a single grader and I'd be that's what happened.
