CGC: It's NOT (just) the price increase!

I agree. When blackstone bought them out a couple years ago many were optimistic but I felt that they were going to become increasingly ant-consumer.

Yes - anyone who studies business and is familiar with Blackstone knew it was a matter of when, not if price increases were announced and implemented.

I'd had the same hopes for CBCS with Beckett. When Steve Borock left, I knew that he couldn't be happy with the changes being asked for/directed.

CBCS by no means gets a pass, either. I haven't heard of egregious QC problems such as CGC is having, but they are having their own issues. Of the top of my head, there's the books that went to employee houses during their warehouse move. I haven't seen any kind of update on that in quite some time...

Precisely why I do NOT send books to CGC: NO graders notes. WTF?? How can anyone settle for this nonsense? Personally, I absolutely do not believe they have more than one grader making the assessment for each book -- no way. CBCS slabs are beautiful and will eventually have more credence in the market. STOP sending books to CGC, people. DEMAND graders notes. It's that simple.

It goes both ways. Always buy the book not the grade. There a some ugly, faded 7.0 GS X-Men #1s out there, that's for sure. I love me some 9.6s and 9.4s.
