They have always been my favorite quartet. I haven't to listened to them in such a long time. Good to be home again. Thank you for posting these stellar performances. I did not realize, until reading recently, that they had an interview with Wilhelm Furtwaengler around 1950, that entirely reoriented their artistic goals. He urged them to express greater rhythmic freedom in their playing. And here, before us,are the results.
