Pretty good review, but I just want to clear something up. The PS3 games are not the titles where Atelier "lost their way" it was really the PS2 era games that were an enormous change for the series The 5 Atelier games that preceded the Iris series were very much in the style of the PS3 Arland and Twilight Trilogies. The PS2 era games experimented with a more traditional RPG style format, rather than the workshop/daily life style established by games like Atelier Marie and Violet. Neither one is really better than the other, but the core Atelier style, the one that the series is known for in Japan is in fact the pre-Iris and PS3 style.

My issue with all of these games in this series was..the time limits. Like, I didn't beat persona 4 until years after it came out, despite 3 failed attempts prior to finally beating the golden version..because I just don't do replays, I beat a game and that's it. So, for a game like the Atelier series I know I absolutely have to be following a guide to get the perfect ending, see all the skits and plotlines and whatever in a single play through...which is a hell of a lot of work. They just always seemed to shallow and cute to put in the kind of effort needed. Which is a shame, because I enjoyed the other much more rpg focused kinds of these games, but time-limit/missable plot segments or sidequests in rpgs drive me nuts.

The immense stress I felt playing this game.... I went into this game blind as my first atelier series. I did play a little ayesha and one on the DS but not very far. I decided I wanted to finish this one. Alas I got the bad ending playing as Escha so decided fo play the second time as Logy because the ending sucked so bad I felt cheated and im also not one to replay games oftem. I had no clue you had a year 4 so I was rushing to do absolutely everything in every month and the last month stressed me so bad I thought I had to complete it all before the last month lol. Man was my jaw dropping when I realised I only needed to complete the main tasks and I had a year to finish up assignments. I stopped playing then because the last months tasks are ridiculous and I agree that the cut scenes are so boring I find myself skipping most of them anyway....

Anyone ever 100% this games assignments? I almost had a heart attack trying to finish the main tasks in the very last month alone. I cant possibly finish the other tasks even with a year to do so.... the worst one was equipping 50 battle items like I couldn't figure it out for ages until someone said the count doesn't matter and it dawned on me that I needed to craft many many single slot items. Luckily I saved up enough sweets to get some off the hommoculis and I farmed some salves from a low level area with the relic check. I was like 2 days away from failing. I spent so much time fighting strong foes because in my second playthrough I was already strong so I never bothered and boy did I regret that. Im not gonna play this a third time. The stress was immense.

This was my first of the PS3 Atelier-games and to be honest, I didn't think I was going to like it. However, I actually ended up liking it a lot! I haven't gotten THAT far into it yet, but it's the same type of whimsical, quirky characters, cozy world and alchemy that made me like the PS2 Atelier-games so much. The battle system was also way more enjoyable than I thought it'd be, and the time system didn't feel as suffocating as I expected it to. Overall, I'm glad I gave it a shot.

I love the Atelier series, but I can't help but saying... I miss Mana Khemia. Gust has been so boob and moe oriented since the PS3 era, and it makes me sick.

Moe is the best. Keep going Gust, more moe and cute girls.

Nope. Have to disagree. It's empty stereotypes. I love Mana Khemia because of its strong characters and plot.

If you really wanted to play JRPG's you should've bought a ps2-4 and a Wii U since they are all Japanese made. It makes it easier for us to get translations since the Japanese primarily develop for those consoles. PC is better if you like Visual Novels, however.

Michael Perez Not really, I don't mind playing old games and right now I can emulate all the games from ps2/Wii era and back. Currently playing Star ocean 2 PSP version on my TV, it is working out well.. . so far. If they put jrpg's in steam I can support them, otherwise I'll have to torrent most of them due to unavailability and it makes me feel bad. Any game I like, I would like to support the people who made them. Regardless, with Tales of Zestiria announced for PC. I am looking forward to good things in the future. (I wrote assuming your comment was aimed at me)
@SupremeMastrThEsIs9 жыл бұрын
Noble Alfred Yeah, but you're still missing all of the ps3 JRPG's including Star Ocean, Nier, and all of the Tales Games released after ps2. Then there's Ar, Atelier, Disgea, and a bunch of others only on Sony platforms. It's honestly because Japan has taken to PC'S actually capable of high end gaming. I'm not going to call you an asshole for using torrents because I do as well, but it doesn't support JRPG'S fans trying to get games localized. It's already hard to get the few we have.
@dedicateddark9 жыл бұрын
Michael Perez True, I can't argue again'st that. I would support the developers if they gave me an opportunity to support them. The announcement of Type zero HD and Tales of Zestiria on PC makes me really really happy.

I neeeeeed eeet ;___; I've been really contemplating on whether I should get the Limited Edition or not, due to how much I love the series, but I'm going to hold off/get it digitally and get Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea when it's out (it's my all time favourite game from the whole series) for the Vita, assuming there'll be a Limited Edition for it xD But still, can't wait to play Escha and Logy Plus! hehe~

The title and thumbnail for this video clearly show that this is "Japanese crap". If you knew that you weren't going to like it, why'd you even click? Oh, that's right, because you're a worthless troll who has nothing better to do with their life. You people are sad.
@HylianMadness10 жыл бұрын
***** No, a dissenting opinion does not automatically make one a troll. However, seeing the title and thumbnail of a video, knowing they're not going to like the content, then clicking on it anyway just to bitch about it in the comments, that does make them a troll.
