I think your disdain for this game comes from the fact that you have no nostalgia for this cartoon, like you said it's a well made game, I like the visuals because the cel-shaded style makes it appear as if you're playing the cartoon. Honestly all 3 Turtles games based on this show are pretty good, and each entry is far more individual than he is suggesting, I prefer Mutant Nightmare to the first arcade game without a doubt. If anyone's ever curious about giving these games a try do so, they aren't bad, I'd almost argue that they're underrated.

I watched the old Turtles show as a kid but i still love the 2003 series WAY more and its the by far best version of the ninja turtles in my opinion and it had many really great storys and it made all the characters very cool and interesting so i really wish they could release new DVDs for this show because the old ones are really expensive now.

@@raphfriendsgaming7739 Despite being rich in style and content related to the TV series, the first 2003 game is very repetitive, to the point of mediocrity. It's worth playing, but honestly, once is enough. Only 6 stages and the game requires all four Turtles to be completed separately to unlock everything. The only variety is in the game's unbalanced AI...some of the enemies are pushovers but certain levels spike seemingly out of nowhere. Lose all your continues and you start the entire stage and all sub-levels over since unlike the latter games you cannot save between any levels. Lord help you in Tournament mode in the first 2003 game. Cheats don't work, healing items are random and the Elite Guard, Oroku Saki and Hamato Yoshi are all entirely programmed and designed to *whoop that ass* .

+Ruko Michiharu I completely agree with your opinion of the games. I however, found your cartoon list to be exactly reverse to mine. The newest season, yeah, it's a bit silly. But overall the show has been consistently clever, fun and has just enough running plot threads and drama to keep it all interesting. I find the 1990s toons to have aged like cheese but still having their charm and the 2000s cartoons suffered from kind of strange design choices and I found it uneven. To each it's own. But if you get over the CGI, you find a great turtles cartoon. Alls I am saying is give 2012 Turtles a fresh change, dog.

All I can say is this was Better than the 2nd movie in terms of better fight scenes and being just as dark as the first film with darker villains and is based on a historical event and the music and score are the very best.

Its like,..."Man I just got through watching the teenage mutant ninja turtles on tv,....the cartoon,...and now,...me and my friends are going to meet up and play the ARCADE GAME! IT'S ACTUALLY LIKE PLAYING THE CARTOON!!!!" (The colors were vibrant, the characters were "IN YOUR FACE" even though it was a side scroller. Mind you also, the TMNT were first a comic book,...so the arcade game was like playing a mid-cross inbetween comic book and cartoon. Like the themes from Snorks, He-Man, Thundercats, X-Men, were actually well done.The characters of that time were cool and games allowed you to be them instead of watch them. Also there weren't that many good cartoons out so the best of the best everyone knew about and the arcade beat-em-ups were the high point big thing to do at the time without variety. But no one cared because we were all hypnotized by the glitz-n-glamor of cartoon-2-game magic of the 80s to 90s. Few being The Simpsons, and the X-Men. Superman too. The music was nice.) The new one,....well,...(cartoon),...Its Dark and more themed after an influenced anime or batman the animated series look. The appeal is renewed but doesn't really appeal and come off that well. The kids won't know the difference so, It feels like a mimick upgrade and the theme song sucks. The game, is the same,...it feels dry, the camera is from over head so you can't really actually see your favorite turtle (hey, what else were they supposed to do with 3D? They side scrolled it enough, but its posstible to do it in 3D.), the graphics are bland, dark, cold, and the environments lack objects and landmarks of appeal as well.The theme song was the beginning of turning me off. Now there are some cartoons that actually have a kick-@$$ song that are new like Digimon Fusion. That song got me pumped to actually watch the upgrade of Digimon, and its actually (in some ways) better than our 90s digimon. But the new TMNT theme song just sounds like they were struggling to find a vocal of tone that appealed.) Dunno,...I'd still play it and have it for the upgrade and to own one of them with the classic Turtles game we grew up with.

This is a good game, but not as good as the previous Turtles-games on PS2, Battle nexus is best of these. And I paid high price for this because this game is quite rare. But they should re-release this PS2 Turtles-trilogy HD-remastered version for modern consoles.

2003 TMNT show was the best. Don't get me wrong, i like old one too, but 2003 show is one that makes things right, until it's creators run out of ideas in Back to the sewers and Fast Forward seasons. The same with this TMNT games, based on 2003 TV show. First game, based on that show is very well made, and it's good in all terms. Sequel is the same, and even better, but this third game is sucks. It's just a second TMNT 2 Battle Nexus game, but with bad level design, which is the same corridors only with different textures. Yes there is new content, but it's a step back and not forward, cause Konami, in my opinion, cut many content from this game. Like, you can't use uppercut attack, you can't grab objects and throw them in to enemies, you can't dash to avoid enemies attacks. You can only attack with simple and strong attacks, throw shurikens and jump. Yeah, there is also some super moves and command buttons, which allows you to command your team to do things, like gather up or attack opponents, but those things are not working. They are not working cause game doesn't telling you how to use them! I played through whole game, and only in the end i found out that you can do those things in this game. WTF?! And upgrades system, it doesn't work either, cause it didn't change anything in the game, like you never upgraded you characters. At first, i didn't know that this game exist, and i thought that TMNT Mutant Melee are the third game, cause i'm a PC gamer, and i didn't have any PS2 or Xbox 360 consoles, only NES and Sega back in my childhood. But when i found out about this game, then i thought that this game is awsome, after i saw it on youtube first. And now, when i played it, with emulator on my PC.. well, you get the idea. I'm disappointed in this game. It's not a bad game, cause first two hours of it is good, but sooner or later it becames booring, and until the end of the game i had a massive headache, and i have to turn game off and go to get some rest. In the end i wanna say, that i don't like or like this game. It's like a simple game, which you wanna play, but at the same time you don't wanna play it. So yeah, for one time playing it will be enough, and after that you should delete this game and never play it again, until, maybe through 5 or more years.

The 2003 Turtles is by far the best series of the 3. The original may be classic but it's very dated. The new show looks atrocious, relys too much on the 80s series, and has very little if any good takes on pre-existing characters or even good original characters. That being said, both shows are still extremely watchable but 2k3 is by far the best. The show looks great even if it suffered from inconsistent animation early on in the series, much like the 80s series but a lot less worse. It took what the comics gave them and they made it their own, paid homage to the original series, all while still having tons of original ideas.

It's cool that we have these versions and that the turtlesverse supports them. My opinion is pretty much exactly opposite. I love Turtles but found the aesthetic and colours of 2003 so off putting. It looked like so many other cartoons and didn't stand out. And conversely I love the new show, even though I at first couldn't stand the thought of CG. The turtles look great with tonnes of personality and the writing is a lot sharper. I think the nick show gets a bad reputation because it deviates so much visually, but it manages to balance the humour of 80s with the darker tone of the comics and this series. I dunno. I just enjoy that there is room for these different tastes.

Well i haven't played those turtles games on the ps2 but something that was a key part in the old games doesn't seem to be in this game, the music, i mean the old turtles games had some incredible, upbeat, catchy, well composed tracks that complemented the action of the game while pumping you up to fight hordes of footsoldiers, the designers could also have worked a little more with the colors, i don't know what people today seem to have against colors, and this question of the music is not just affecting beat em ups, what's the problem with some great instrumentals to really pump you up for the game, now we have some generic techno, or beats that are so unremarkable that don't even pass as ambient sound, not to mention licensed tracks, which is something that i hate.
