Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of The Pinball Arcade for Playstation 3 developed by FarSight Studios an published by Crave Entertainment.
The Pinball Arcade aims to give the player the life changing experience of going to a pinball arcade and playing all the different machines. Each of the machines are digital versions of real machines, completed with the history of each. The controls and feel of the pinball allows for simple and easy gameplay. There are online leaderboards for each pinball machine. There are also many more machines that are able to be purchased off the store. So it feels a little cheap, having such great tables shown but not available until an additional fee is payed.

You guys have to understand these tables weren't just magically there from the get go: the first 4 tables were what came out from the start, they've been building up over the last year. in-between updates, they are MAKING these tables (remaking I should say). It's a constant job. This isn't like a AAA title where they make the game and cut the content for the sake of some extra bucks in DLC. What you are looking at is, in fact, a years worth of DLC,

I'm glad I downloaded this on PS3, when it came out! This is a good way to re-live my childhood and teenage years. I played tables made by Williams, Bally, Gottlieb, Stern, Data East and SEGA.

Love it! They did an amazing job, very accurate to playing the real machines. I had a few of these machines in my local arcade in the 80's early 90's. A must have!

When you go the arcade to play pinball it's $1for 3 balls! How is paying around $5 for 2 digital pinball tables expensive when you can play the table as much as you like! These are recreations of classic and fun tables, worth every penny IMO :)

Hopefully this will inspire other companies to start making unlicensed pinball machines. I for one am getting tired that every new pinball that comes out is ether based off some comic book I read when I was a kid and could care less for now, or some rock band( when rock is dead), or a movie that is only worth renting at the Redbox.

The additional tables are worth every penny, considering that they give you Star Trek TNG and Twilight Zone for only $5 each, and the rest of the tables are $5 for a pair. I'm giddy with excitement waiting for when they release the Stern classic table, Flight 2000, later this year!

the tables ARE dlc. this game has been out for over a year and each month 2 new tables are released.

I hate the fact you can't turn the electronic music/sounds volume down (like you could at least in the real Williams/Bally machines from the 90's). It gets really annoying to hear that Star Trek theme playing full blast when playing that table. Other than that I can't really complain about this game, even about the tables prices (except for the Pro Modes which are not worth the money). I'm glad Bride of Pin*Bot is included here, as it's my favourite pinball machine.

Woo...they've added tables since I last loaded this title. And, the DLC is remarkably cheap. Why, one could pump in the same cash into the real things, in no time.

Plus it's not really DLC is it! It's not extra missions on existing tables! It's new tables! ie, new games,

I think the prices should be toned down considerably for the extra tables. If you're not a PS Plus member, then it already costs $10.00 for FOUR tables. After that, it's an additional $5.99 for a 2-table pack, or $30.00 for all the tables in the pack. That's way too steep of a price. If anything, it should be $1.99 for a 2-table pack, and maybe $14.99 or under for the full pack. It's absolutely ridiculous how much of a DLC-whore this game is.

The normal 2-table packs are $4.99 not $5.99. Ever go to a real pinball arcade? You can burn through $5 in 10 minutes flat. $5 for two machines you can play as much as you want forever? That's a steal.

I like ZP2 just fine but it's not remotely like real pinball. TPA is the closest you can get to playing real machines.

Zen Pinball 2 is way too easy. Too many kickouts and flippers aren't strong to go up any ramps in the back. The Pinball Arcade is much more challenging and their physics are much more polished than Zen Studio's physics.

Yes there are additional tables but they don't cost much, hardly a steep price to play for unlimited balls! What a rubbish review! And I usually like your reviews
