this is the first YS game ive played, and i loved it. then got the one for sega genesis, and eventually the psp game. i still find this one to be my favorite

I believe this series more or less follows a chronology. From what i've played of three of the games (not in order), the games are all individual stories (1 and 2 being the exception), so you don't have to have played the previous ones. Good thing too as 4 and 5 aren't available in the US). They occur in the same world and follow the same two main characters as they travel the world.

Did they use polygonal characters in this port, opposed to the prerendered sprites? The proportions look way different.

This is like one of the best games I've ever played. If you like rpgs, but don't have enough time to play a lot of them, then check this game out. I think the Ys games deserve more western audiences and most people that I've talked to are so damn ignorant about this series. Not a big fan of rpgs, but this game is awesome. Unlike most rpgs, this one has more replay value.

Ys is awesome! But watch out if you're gonna get the PSP version of this game, it's not a very good port... The 3 good Ys games on PSP are I & II Chronicles, The Oath in Felghana and Seven!
