7:00 - My guy, the US Army and Navy that fought the 1990-1991 Persian Gulf War were cut by almost 50% by 1995. Why? Well, there was no more soviet Union or Warsaw Pact, so _SURELY_ we're never going to have to send out large numbers of troops, like, ever again.....Right? I mean, we're coming up on the Millennium, and that kind of thing is soooooo last century, amiright?

Just to give you some numbers, the strength of the US Army was well over 2 million men in 1918...something like 2.3 million or thereabouts. Less than 2 years after the end of WW1, the size of the US Army as approved by Congress was 296 thousand troops. Also, not sure if it was part of the joke you were telling at the time...but there were no real Kamikaze attacks at Pearl Harbor. There were only the normal instances of some pilots trying to "take somebody with them" after their planes were too heavily damaged to make it back to their carriers.
