Hmm, this was on my list when I went through ps2 games on Wiki some time ago. Later realised when purchasing some copies for BC ps3 that it was never released in Europe and as such took it off my list... But here it is on sale on the ps4 store, perhaps it is time.

i just got this game for ps4. i like, barely BARELY remember commercials and friends talking about this back in the day (ya know, when the Gamecube was superior to ps2 in graphics and people talked about it as much as ps4 and Xbox1). ever since i picked this up though, i have enjoyed every little bit of the game... except those damn prices on weapons and such lol. i cant really give too many other opinions that the reviewer has already said. i guess if anything, the battles do have MANY monsters, but most of your party has moves to basically get rid of an entire group at a time, making the battles much shorter than said here. overall, this was an amazing review :D and for sure a great game. they have many instances where the situation you're in is actually a reference to something going on in the REAL world. (example: a high paying business that has an evil boss that targets a low income city.

I remember commercials for Majora's Mask and Kirby 64, but not this game. I'm wondering if they were airing during an interval where I didn't watch much television. I'd love to see those old commercials for Okage, given that games like these usually don't have much marketing at all.

I didn't get this when the PS2 was new but years later but before the next gen and I loved it. While I wasn't a goth kid I did like the aesthetic and this was right up my alley in spite of it's gameplay flaws...

oh wow, the art direction in this game is amazing! The characters have a Tim Burton like style to them, such as their really think & lanky bodies. I'm sad that I never heard of this or played it until now. Thanks for sharing this Jen! I might have to find a copy.

It is a great game, I was one of the first 20 to purchase it. Cyphertext are challenging. I am unsure of #4. I had to search for 3 as well. as I only got it halfway correct. Cut it slack, it was LITERALLY one of the first actual fully 3D RPGs that weren't bits, or totally misshapen pixels. Great game, so cut it slack. I wanted to get all of the trophies first. but a person or two beat me. the cyphertext, leveling three characters to 70+, and saving 500,000 sukel is the hardest part.

@mighty3alloa Many people will agree with you, many will also disagree. I for one, do not agree that the Mother series was the best ever. I personally enjoyed the Suikoden and Golden Sun series; The most out of the two, the Suikoden series. To tell you the truth though, the more recent game Demon's Souls and it's (technically not, but the basics are the same) sequel Dark Souls may take the spot of best RPGs ever made for me.

@mighty3alloa True, but at their core, they are both role-playing games. It's faily obvious with knowledge of both games that they are different styles of gameplay, but I think you could include them together under "Best RPGs of All Time" lists, groupings, etc. If you're speaking of stricltly turn-based combat system RPGs, I would say that the GBA Golden Sun games would be up there with the Mother games. Have you played any Golden Sun games?If so, how do they compare to the mother games for you?

Man, are you kidding? I loved this game! I picked it up because it was so downright hilarious and has fun not only with itself, but with the genre in general. Yeah, combat is a bit bland. But ultimately it was how everything came together to create a unique experience. Besides, how many games let you save the world before you can destroy it?

I own an opened PS2 copy I never played that I keep to rub my cooter to. I play the PS4 remake. fantastic title. I thumbed it up, and 5/5 stars'd it as soon as it came out.

Clocks in 9 or 10 Hours? ... then I must be really slow or you did a speed playthrough 'cause it took me 40 hours to beat it... and most other reviewers averege it to about 30 to 35 hours. Other than that, awesome video!
