I don’t hear many people talk about Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, which is a real shame. It looks like a GTA knock of set in North Korea, but it’s actually a fantastic 3rd person shooter with a fantastic open world, lots of weapons to play with, tons of cool vehicles,and a fully destructible world. You play as a mercenary, who is charged with taking down a dictator, and his 51 henchmen, represented by a deck of cards. You’re given an objective, how you complete it is totally up to you.

PS2 had a LOT of underappreciated games. Mad Maestro! was a rhythm game that went in for classical music. Why no one wants to touch that genre with a ten meter cattle prod, despite a huge catalog that would cost nothing to license, is beyond me. I'll see your "Through the Fire and the Flames," and raise you one "1812 Overture." Baroque was an unapologetically tough post-apocalyptic roguelike. It was weird, it was wonderful, and I miss it. G1 Jockey 3 got a Western port, and this was all about the racing, the horses, and the characters. You'd think a horse racing RPG-light would be a snoozer, but you'd be wrong.
@paxhumana201511 ай бұрын
As a person that is both a fan of metal, as well as classical, music, Dragonforce simply is a much more complex version of even the most complex of classical music, and, were they to have existed at the time when classical music existed, then their songs would be among the most complex of classical music songs that were ever made. Basically, think of the most complex classical music that was ever composed, and dial that to 11, and that is Dragonforce.
@ToABrighterFuture11 ай бұрын
@@paxhumana2015 Not saying Dragonforce is in any way bad. I'm just saying that, in a theoretical classical music video game, conducting the "1812" would make for one heck of a "final boss" kind of piece (which is the basis for my comparison). 15 minutes long, bells, artillery, and even a choir, depending on the arrangement...it's a lot to keep straight. Gamers don't have fifteen minutes to spare for a single piece, so this theoretical game would focus on shorter pieces like, say, Pachelbel's Canon, or Mountain King, or Fanfare For the Common Man. See what I'm getting at?

MDK2 is a seriously hidden gem. I loved that game so much and played through multiple times back then even on harder difficulty levels. The concept of saving one hero by the hand of another who have been kidnapped afterwards by the aliens was a great experience of this sequel of MDK came out in the 90s. Nonetheless, we could also play 2 extra characters with their own unique playstyle and oh god, the dialogue is GOLDEN! MDK3 will just never gonna happen as much as I see this game. No chance regarding that, no matter how great of a successor it was in my childhood.
@ignorethis21410 ай бұрын
For me, Chaos Legion was a pretty cool game overshadowed by Devil May Cry. It had its faults. Hard mode had some enemies that were just stupidly spongy, but I liked it a lot. It was very frustrating, because I remember a review at the time from one of the big sites being 'Its too easy' when they obviously played on easy difficulty, due to some of the things they complained about being more of situations associated with easy mode.

@mojoplays, fun fact, Seek and Destroy (which is also the title of a classic song by Metallica, by the way), is actually a part of the Choro Q franchise, which began with the game that is called City Connection (and is now also the name of the successor video game company to the old video game/mega-conglomerate company that was called Jaleco). The Japanese name of the game translates to True Combat: Choro Q, so, yes, the English name of the game is a lot better. Also, in my list of my own twenty good picks for the PS2, I mention a few good war based video games that are criminally overlooked as well. Finally, Seek and Destroy/True Combat: Choro Q reminds me of a more primitive version of World of Tanks. I also mentioned two other games that were in the franchise that also got NTSB-U releases as well in my Honorable Mentions list, namely, Gadget Racers/Choro Q HG, and Road Trip/Choro Q HG 2.

PS2? 😆 I don’t own any console games but I’ve played those two games on the thumbnail. (No one lives forever & Oni) No wonder I can’t find them again. Oh also played Bloodrayne too.
