To do tricks. You didn't have to use buttons it was the swoggle stick. For example if you go up and jump. In mid air tap left then hold right to to a mid air barrel roll. Dead simple stuff like that.

Let me tell you something. The soundtrack composed by Kazumi Kotaka on Wave Race 64 is epic, timeless, powerful and beautiful. It has stayed with me since I first played it and a great example of a video game being an expressive art and partly reflective of our pop culture. An iconic, class game. I thank nintendo for such an inspirational creation.

1:15 After 10+ years of playing this game every now and then; I can't seem to remember the "time travel" mode. Do you get the jetski up to 88 mph and then blast off into the past/future? ;-O
