Absolutely Stunning work! Others use 'Time Lapse' to make results come faster, meanwhile you just embrace the struggle! My hat is off to you, world could use more people who are as real on camera as you!

I'd recommend getting a 8k Negura stone to clean the metal loading on those stones.

I bought the cgsw stones recently for the KME too. I did dress them though. It makes a big difference. One you dress them, use a bit then dress then use then dress again they are really consistent performers. I have the 80, 40, and 20 micron stones. The 80 is not an aggressive grit. It's somewhere in between the KME 300 grit and 600 grit. CGSW makes a 160 micron stone but I really don't see a need for it if you already have the 100 and 140 grit KME plates. I'm mostly happy with the CGSW stuff but what I don't like is that they are not supposed to be used in an edge leading way. That makes it really hard to deburr if you are used to the KME stones and the ability to do edge leading strokes. Overall good stuff, if you know their limitations. They do produce a really nice and uniform scratch pattern.

I use them the same as any other stone and they work great! I’m not one to read directions, more of a trial and error person and I can tell for a fact you can use them edge leading and they work great. I haven’t experienced any reasons not to use them that way so I’m confident it’s safe. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@BLADESANDFADESOFFICIAL I will try it then. Guess I was being more careful than needed. Sometimes I think more of the stones I buy than the knives they sharpen. LOL

The CGSW stones need to be dressed before using since they are sold as molded with no diamonds exposed. You need to remove a little resin to expose the diamonds. While they do work edge leading I have noticed repeatedly that the finest ones will pick stuff up causing stray scratches, which I never see with edge trailing passes. I only deburr after the last stone using a strop with appropriate abrasive loaded or bare leather depending on the steel. This is much safer for the apex than using a stone and edge leading pass. Typically the burrs are only .001"-.003" long with the 20, 10, or 5 micron stones so there isn't much there to clean up.

Interesting, obviously you would know best but I started using my 10 and 5 micron CGSW resin bonded stones straight out of the box and they seemed to work fine and I used them as my final stones on maybe a hundred knives without any issues and used them both leading and trailing and they still work great to this day. Thats why I have recommended them to countless people because of how well they have worked for me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

As im sure you can tell, I’m not one to read instructions very often. I typically just jump in head first and address any problems shall some arise lol. Not saying thats the best way to go about things but that’s just how I’ve always been and it honestly hasn’t caused me too much headache. I’m a quick learner and my mind is always analyzing things so anything that isn’t apparent or self explanatory gets figured out rather quickly and I honestly have never had any reason to question my use of the CGSW stones because they have held up and performed great for me!

Hey Sean! I know these days you are seen using Venevs a bunch (imma get some asap!) But I really wanna get these, too. Do you still use them? I know you have had a come to Jesus moment (if you will) in seeing your scores on the bess drop dramatically, I just wonder if these are a good option in your mind still! I know you mentioned that sometimes people over do things and sacrifice sharpness.. Well done as always man ❤️💪your videos are therapy to me real talk

They did good by me for awhile and theyve worked great for others who I recommend them too as well. But my honest recommendation is skip all the bs and get the Venevs. Youll get better results a whole lot easier with them and everyone always ends up getting them eventually anyway so why beat around the bush! My only regret when it comes to the venevs is that I didn’t buy them WAY sooner!!! But thanks brother, I’m glad my videos are helpful to you! 👊🏼😁

I did the 1500 diamond, then went to 1k and 3k chosera, then the lapping films to 60k. I spent over an hour on the knife, s30v, and it's not a mirror. It just looks like a 2 or 3k finish. It whittles hair but is cloudy and not mirror. Do i just spend more time with the lapping films? I had to of spent 10 plus minutes on each film already.

Probably need to spend more time and care at the lower grits. Most likely left over coarse scratches that the higher grits cant remove. You really want to take your time on each stone if you’re striving for perfection. Try using some mineral oil on your stones also. If you go to my “sharpening” playlist, I have alot of tips and tutorial videos that will help you!
