The Yak is on grass land and the wolves are on gravel. Never shown in the same shot. A story that never happened.

Fake scene, as often happens in wildlife filming. Wolves and yak never appear in the same shot. Why? They were filmed in separate locations at different times. I once provided a film location and a lurcher for a supposed lamping scene in an episode of the BBC's series "Wildlife on One." The dog and hare featured in the scene never actually came within thirty miles of one another.

Dude, yaks are actually domesticated animals. My grandfather used to have a few. They are not rare.
@HuckleberryHim3 ай бұрын
@@arystanbeck914 The wild yak is rated as "vulnerable" and was recently considered endangered. There are only a few thousand left in the world, in a pretty small range. It is indeed not a common animal, and I very rarely come across footage of it, especially at this quality. Domesticated water buffalo, yaks, cattle, camels, horses, etc are all common. Their wild counterparts are not. That's often how it goes with humans. And they are very distinct; wild yaks are much bigger; they're some of the biggest bovids in the world, and among the biggest land animals period.

The Yak (Poephagus grunniens) is a large cattle native to Central Asia, it is the second largest living cattle species, the second largest living bovine, and the second largest living bovid in the world, it is the only extant species of the genus Poephagus and the closest living relative of both the European Bison (Bison bonasus) and the American Bison (Bison bison), the scientific name of the yak means "grunting grass-eater" in latin.

They're usually placed in the genus Bos these days, alongside cattle, gaur, and banteng.
@indyreno29335 ай бұрын
@HuckleberryHim, not anymore, the Bos genus is polyphyletic and is now restricted only to the aurochsen with only two extant species: the Paleotropical Aurochs (Bos namadicus (cladistically including the Zebu (Bos namadicus indicus) and Sanga (Bos namadicus africanus))) and the Palearctic Aurochs (Bos primigenius (cladistically including the Taurine Ox (Bos primigenius taurus) and Mandarin Ox (Bos primigenius mandarinus))) while the gaur, banteng, and kouprey all now belong to the genus Bibos and the yak now belongs to the monotypic genus Poephagus so the scientific names of the gaur, banteng, kouprey, and yak are now Bibos gaurus, Bibos javanicus, Bibos sauveli, and Poephagus grunniens respectively As far as told the genera Bibos and Poephagus are not closely related to aurochsen (genus Bos) at all, the latter is more closely related to the bison (genus Bison) while the former is the most basal and distantly related from all of the four extant genera of true cattle (subtribe Bovina) "Cattle" refers to the tribe Bovini as a whole just like "owl" and "parrot" refer to the entire orders Strigiformes and Psittaciformes despite "true cattle" being more specifically used for the subtribe Bovina just like "true owl" and "true parrot" are specifically used for the family Strigidae and the superfamily Psittacoidea respectively To be fair there are now 72 extant genera of bovids, so here are all 72 extant bovid genera and their species:

I am wondering. Considering the way wolves (canines) attack its prey ... that hair in the underbelly seems like a good protection. Makes it hard to get a good grip for the wolves.

One must suppose that by "Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau" it is just good old Tibetan Plateau being meant, which covers most of Tibet and streches into neighboring countries, China included.

Wolf doesn't look scared. Since you never show both animals in the same shot, this could be footage taken on different days and spliced together. It would have been better if you had simply said that the wolf decided to look for an easier meal. It would be more believable.

The Yak has a Mass of 800 kilogram and weight of 7.85 kN (kilonewton). It is the 21st Century not the 18th Century. If you are going to use the old, obsoulte metric system, then the weight would be kilogram-force as apposed to kilogram-mass.
