Expanding China's opening up has been a key message of the third plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee, which just wrapped up last week. It also explains the goal of China's 144-hour visa-free transit policy, which has also recently been in the spotlight, igniting a surge of "China Travel" and a growing number of foreign vloggers sharing their travel experiences on social media. The visa-free transit policy has been expanded to cover 54 countries and 41 ports. So, what does such a practice, together with a growing list of visa-free deals, say about China's determination to further open up? What do these foreign visitors say about their stay in China? And what more can China do to attract more people from around the world to visit the country?
Guests in this edition of Dialogue are travel vloggers Ben Dridge, Reanne Dridge, Simon Phillips and Ethan Phillips; Professor Liu Baocheng from the University of International Business and Economics; and Mario Cavolo, senior fellow at the Center for China and Globalization.

Our family of 16 just finished our 13 days China tour. We did it to give my American grandkids the experience of China for the first tine. All of us paid $140 each for a 10 year multiple entry visa. My family are now back in Chicago and the grandparents are now back in Florida. The trip did not disappoint us at all. All enjoyed the Great Wall, the terracotta warriors, the forbidden city, the glass bridge of Zhangjiajie, the Li Rever of Guilin , and the Bund of Shanghai. China is clean, beautiful and safe !

As a Brit who's lived in China for almost 18 years I'm pleased that finally China is being experienced by so many fresh eyes. The more exposure that China receives in the western media by unbiased tourists the sooner the message will get out that China is an amazing country to visit or as in my case live in.

I echoed the sentiments of Simon especially on the hospital visit. I went to visit China for the first time to be at the Shanghai expo 2010. I was blown away what I had experienced, maglev train from the airport. The hospital At Hangzhou was amazing & people are very kind & helpful. The doctors who attended me can speak English etc. I was very impressed. All in all 2010 China was great, but 2024, from these English folks, I will be even more impressed.

My passport is ready to go to China and share business with others. 😊 China has 5 of the world's top ten technology universities and now our US has none. China's rapidly successful EVs and technologies are popular with the global majority of the global south and rapidly gaining respect in many other countries. The HSR 'high speed rails" really helps you & business people get to various stops for activities all in one day oftentimes, hence the popular business phrase: "Business At The Speed Of China" 😊 Aviation, China's Comac C919 received airworthiness certificate from 27 countries around the world recently. Now, since only our US lost over a million people during recent times, opposite of the most populated countries combined with billions of people, now around 80% of the global population are relying on natural remedies and preventions as their primary health care and same as China's 'TCM' well-known globally as 'Traditional Chinese medicine'. 😊 To much to list but please research more 🙏 💕 😊 Good luck to everyone 👍

I think China has 6 of the top universities in the world now. Now the US starts working on its next anti-China propaganda entitled: “China has an overcapacity in the numbers of top universities that destroyed our universities!”

Actually, China now has SIX of the world's top ten ranked universities and 11 of the top twenty. No surprise given that young Chinese have increasingly excelled in international academic testing over the last three decades. Top students in the world will make for top universities.

I really hope China will extend their current 15 days visa-free policy into 2025 or better still, indefinitely. I am fortunate to be from one of the countries listed benefitting from this policy. I decided to take advantage of it and have visited China 4 times so far. My experiences each time has been nothing but amazing. China is a huge country and so beautiful, and there's so much out there to explore and enjoy. For those who are still contemplating about visiting China, just go, you will not regret it. ❤🎉

Our family, including my wife and daughter who wear head coverings for religious reasons, often travels together. I am curious about the level of hospitality in China for Muslim tourists. Are there any restrictions or negative attitudes towards head coverings in China? Additionally, I would like to know if there are designated prayer areas or mosques available for Muslims and if the general attitude towards Muslims is welcoming in China
@張小可-b8l

No one cares about what you wear in China, as long as you are not naked 😂 there are lots of Muslims in China, totally there are about 35000 mosques in China and about 25000 of them are in Xinjiang, most Muslims live in Xinjiang ❤

And I forgot to say, about 500 people can have one mosque in Xinjiang, but don't worry, there are still some mosques in other provinces, not only in Xinjiang ❤
@davidrichards1741
@davidrichards1741 Ай бұрын
Actually, only a fraction of Chinese Muslims live in Xinjiang. China has the third-most Muslims of any nation. There are millions of Chinese Muslims in Beijing and nearby Tianjin, which both have large Muslim areas with restaurants that serve delicious traditional Muslim Chinese food that are popular with all Chinese people. There's also at least 3 other Chinese provinces with millions of Muslim residents.

They welcome all tourists and share knowledge, as Asian countries prioritize family traditions and virtues which proves best life long results. Opposite of our Western countries media anti family agendas which ignore these virtues which is why our US lost prominence in many topics recent years especially education. Please enjoy and experience amazing improvements in various topics recent years 😊

The only thing China could do more is to improve the immigration clearance process. I wish to see more welcoming smiles from those immigration officers (very common you don’t see friendly officers in other countries), because that’s the first impression tourists get when they entering China. Also, I wish to see them opening more clearing lanes, as my last visit to Shanghai Pudong airport, I waited almost 2 hours on queue (again most major airports has similar long queuing times). One last thing I wish to see China is to adopt paperless immigration arrivals card and remove some unnecessary questions. Such as filling up contact name and phone number in China. Just remember, first impression of a visiting country starts from immigration clearance. I’m not here to complain, I’m just here to give a suggestion to make China stands out even more when most countries do not pay much attention to.

That's the way to promote your country right? Take good care of your guests! After all the hates on China from the filthy mouths of anti China channels and trolls, the best way to promote China is to offer incentives and perks and to treat your guests as VIPs are all they need, not those expensive advertisements that exaggerates everything!
