He really is. Because he is a local resident, they live with camel since they were born. If possible go there and experience the adventure in person. Don't worry about the language issue. There are bilingual signs and translation app will do the help.

Yeah he did😂 felt like he was about to cry saying no one has the heart to kill a camel❤
@newname3718Ай бұрын
he sounded offended. I mean i can 100% understand that, cause yeah 30 years, imagine spending 30 years with camels, no, 10 years will do, you will have names for the camels, and after the camels die i dont see anyone can sell the meat. this is just the emotion attachment angle, Camels arent fast growing animals, so it doesnt make any economic sense too. I can see some people making it a "dare" or a "challenge" to catch some attention but never a local delicacy cause there isnt much supply to support recipe development. And the cab driver mentioned a very good point, that is a living camel generates more income than a dead one. So common sense would tell you that most camel meat (if they arent other meat pretending as camel meat) is going to be old, hard, possibly having some smell. Younger camel may not come from "camels that died naturally", probably sick camels. The camel dish in the video was what? 33 yuan or something? (i think China bubble tea is about 15-20 yuan, think about that) if its available whole year round its most likely beef or mutton or other livestock meat.
@cattybac2247Ай бұрын
@@newname3718 It's actually illegal to kill a cow back then in China. If you eat beef in Qin dynasty, you get your head chopped. For similar reason, cow is too important as a tool back then. It's like you sabotaged some million dollar equipment today.

For us Chinese, Dunhuang is also a place full of historical scars. In fact, a large number of Dunhuang's books, murals and artworks were stolen by Western colonists from Britain, France, Germany and other countries. The murals were copied on a large scale and transported away to become collections of the British Museum or private collections.

I grew up in the desert, first in North Africa and then in the Persian Gulf, so it's really interesting to see the Gobi and how people live on the edge of it. Your videos are always great but I'd love to see more from this region in particular because hardly anyone seems to film there and it really is gorgeous. My dream trip is to retrace the Silk Road - as far as I can tell there's amazing food along every single step of it, and the cities are often stunning. ETA - if you're still there, or anyone else who's never lived in the desert is planning a trip - absolutely do not step on the sand in bare feet, you'll get burned and it'll hurt for days. Cover your head, drink lots of water, keep an eye on your electrolytes. If you have a dog with you then their feet can get burned too so be careful during the hottest part of the day!
