Hassan 2 was a smart and wise man. But he wasn't a perfect king. They didn't talk about the situation with the imazigh langueages, or about what happend in the Rif in the 60s. Morocco was always a country with many folks, the Arabs and the Imazighen ( The Chleuhs, The Riffis,...). He tried to make one nation, and that wasn't simple with the many folks. He put Morocco on the map that is for sure. What they also didn't tell is that the Moroccan people feared him. If you would talk bad about the king in his time with family or friends they would look at you with big eyes. But one thing is for sure, he will always be in the Moroccan history books. This is my perspective as an Chleuh Amazigh from Agadir.

His Majesty late Hassan II was hard yet soft he loved deeply his nation and us moroccans, he was invincible even if he was betrayed many times by his close friends unfortunatly, but fortunatly for us moroccans he kept his head high and at the end he passed away in his royal bed like the great king he was, and that was after the betrayers of the nation died like dogs. I feel like the translation done on Andre Azulay is conveniently incorrect, and key things are left out. 23:53, for example, he says that for King Hassan II his main priority were his people "the Moroccans"; he repeats this many times to emphasize the point and it gets left out of the translation every time. The documentary is nice but there is an obvious bias, or narrative; it would've been awesome to watch this without the bias creeping in. King Hassan II was a great king, and a true adherent to free thought. He chose the most logical, and pragmatic routes to set the framework for Morocco's political stability, and economy. Remember that all the Moroccan intellectuals at the time, and many foreign countries in North Africa opted for a communist approach when the non-conformist visionaire from Morocco implemented a free market system.The documentary stresses the point of education as a negative during King Hassan II's rule. In the beginning of his rule Morocco was very poor, people didn't have enough to eat, and a child can't learn on an empty belly. This is the rationale behind his famous quote: "You are not going to feed our children pencils." By the time Morocco became a global agricultural player, the public schools had become more popular than the private schools. My mother was delighted she got accepted to public school after her primary education. Her father was one of the wealthiest businessmen in the country at the time so they couldn't care less for the prices of private schools. Rather, the changes made to the public school system during King Hassan II's time were so drastic that people were proud to have been accepted to the public school system if they had means; because it was selective for people with means, and it was the best education available.

7:18 I call this total bvllshit. This is Algerian propaganda being spewed here. Moroccan independence wasn't a deal. The king wasn't exiled for fun. Moroccans fought for their independence with weapons and diplomacy and achieved it. Before making a documentary, you must read about the subject. Read real books by the mentioned party. Not Algerian hallucinations. Algeria has nothing to do with Morocco's independence. Algeria never was relevant in anything. In fact, it's Morocco (and Tunisia) that made it possible for them to gain Independence.

At approx. the 2.min 25. sec mark the B.S. begins; "When the Spanish wanted to conquer North Africa they passed through Morocco." Thereby insinuating or indicating that it was the Spanish that were the aggressors. It continues "Later the Muslims came with their own ideas." Clearly at this point I'm done, everyone knows or should know that it was from Morocco in 711 A.D. that the Moors & Arabs invaded Iberia aka Al-Andulus aka Spain. The Visigoths & Vandals, were Germanic tribes who passed through Spain en route to Roman territories in Africa. There was no authentic Spanish invasion of North Africa before the 19th C. Everything the narrator states is suspect...
@YasserOtmaniTV9 жыл бұрын
+AMARIALLAH of course the spanish were aggresors, if they were soft then why did Moroccan nomads and tribesmen rebelled everywhere in the country ?
@AMARIALLAH9 жыл бұрын
+Yasser Otmani Perhaps you misunderstood me. The point is that the Spanish, were merely returning the favor through their invasion of North Africa after centuries of Moorish rule in Spain and great influence throughout Europe. It is a matter of who in fact was the first aggressor and who merely reacted to aggression. The latter would be the Spanish. The narrator clearly suggest that the Spanish first invaded Morocco and that "later the "Muslims" came with their own ideas".
